Borrowers such as Kaila are doing everything correctly. The end of the SAVE Plan isn't just increasing monthly payments for millions of Americans, it's significantly delaying student loan forgiveness. Read more about Kaila's story, our featured #SAVEStories story of the day.
Donald Trump wants to start one war, and then another war, and then another war. The American people are not looking for wars around the world; we are looking for lower prices here at home.
"I filed for placement onto another Income-based repayment plan in December 2024. It is still "in review." If I were to be put on the IBR plan, the only one I qualify for, my payment will go from $93 on the SAVE plan to $463 a month." - Borrower from Minnesota
“I’ve worked in this space for 15 years now, roughly, and this is the most confusing, hardest time for student loan borrowers that I’ve seen,” - Student Debt Crisis Center founder, @nataliaabrams
The system shouldn't be this confusing.

The era of nudges and incrementalism is over. We need the most bold and ambitious legislation of a generation. I call it New Economic Patriotism. @PressClubDC
"I have been working toward PSLF for over 9.5 years. I have also been paying on my loans. MOHELA put me on the SAVE plan without asking me and now my time/payments are not counting toward PSLF." - Borrower from North Carolina
If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than:
Tesla
Southwest
Disney
Live Nation
HP
United
PayPal
CVS Health
Palantir
Citigroup
PG&E
3M
That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax.
It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.
The processing backlogs, which have persisted for more than a year, are likely to feed concerns that the Dept. of Ed and its loan servicers are ill-equipped to handle the looming termination of SAVE and the simultaneous launch of RAP later this summer. https://t.co/VWkB5CGwgO
Federal student loans should be helping students finance their education. Instead, the system is keeping Americans trapped in a lifetime of debt. #CancelStudentDebt
If no one has a job OR a way to pay their student loans back, guess what that means, y’all.
100+ million student loans borrowers and their extended family members.
Sh*t is about to get real.
American medical student says the cost of going to school is now so expensive, it’s not worth it for most Americans
She shows that she has over $508,000 in student debt
“If anyone knows how hard and expensive it is to get into healthcare, it's me. It's honestly becoming increasingly inaccessible and it just takes way too much time and money that it's pushing people away from going into the medical field.”
This is why we have a shortage of native born American healthcare workers. It’s just too insanely expensive here in America
American healthcare worker says she has $105,309.76 of student loan debt
Between her loans she’s accruing roughly $464 in interest debt alone every single month
If she was to pay $1,000 per month, it would still take her 10 years to pay off this loan. Even at a $1,000 per month payment she would pay roughly $51,000 just in interest
This is predatory lending. This is a scam
The Trump administration’s latest attempt to dismantle the Education Department is moving student loans to the Treasury Department.
This illegal scheme threatens to trap borrowers, students, and families in chaos—while taxpayers foot the bill. I’m fighting to stop it.
The United States of America must always be prepared to use overwhelming military force when necessary to defend our national security interests and protect Americans at home and abroad.
And, a President should have the latitude to make decisions to that end, but only to the extent that those decisions are also consistent with the inherent authority of a Commander-in-Chief under the U. S. Constitution and the provisions of the War Powers Resolution. To date, I have supported the President’s decisions relating to the Iranian conflict because they were consistent with these authorities and the ultimate goal of protecting national security interests.
At the same time, what sets America apart is not only our strength, but how we use it. Our nation has always conducted military operations for just causes and through just and moral means. This must continue in the future; otherwise we forfeit our legitimacy to lead the world.
So, let me be clear: I do not support the destruction of a "whole civilization." That is not who we are, and it is not consistent with the principles that have long guided America.
I have and will continue to support a strong national defense—one that is focused, disciplined, and firmly rooted in protecting the safety and security of the American people. But, how we protect the lives of the innocent is just as important as how we engage the enemy.
America is great because America is good.
