@davidkitch88616@AshleeMBoyer A lot of people with mental health issues of varying severity go undiagnosed due to stigma. Some are chemical in nature and would benefit greatly from medication.
It does not specify that in the blanket statement title though, which is likely the only thing most people read.
@SaskiaHomer@l_u_n_a13@AshleeMBoyer No, that sounds like a reasonable conclusion. Especially considering the article is making claims of comparison. It likely excluded any studies that proved it false. (Also, it’s likely funded by some personal training/subscription gym corporation.)
@CriticalBard Ouch... What can your communities do to help get it back on track and help you find a new co-host?
What traits will you find most beneficial?
@HowtoADHD Depending on the day...
Some quiet cuddle time
Making some arts and crafts project
Finding an interesting mental challenge
Having conversations where I can lean into the ADHD and let it run rampant (usually happens in the form of TTRPG, or audiodrama character ad lib).
@SallieBruce @SpoiledMeg_89 @Boxinabeetle @BBCNews Again, this is not always an option. But as it seems discussing this point further will do neither of us any good, I will say good day.
@SallieBruce @SpoiledMeg_89 @Boxinabeetle @BBCNews What someone with ADHD does not need is hearing the same criticisms they receive everywhere else coming from within the community. So. Please, if you cannot show empathy or compassion, at least resist criticism. It hurts so much more coming from those who should understand.
@SallieBruce @SpoiledMeg_89 @Boxinabeetle @BBCNews Again, these are not excuses, just explanations. Financial institutions do not care why payment is late. So, we have to take accountability for our symptoms and try to find ways to prevent repeats.
@SallieBruce @Boxinabeetle @BBCNews I have not seen anyone claiming ADHD as an excuse, just a lot of people empathizing by sharing their own related experiences. Their experiences all went beyond the mishaps. They had to correct the mistake, take accountability, and try several systems to try to prevent a repeat.
@SallieBruce @Boxinabeetle @BBCNews I think you're misunderstanding something. The vast majority of us try very hard to manage our symptoms, but we also have to learn compassion toward ourselves. The inattentiveness, time "blindness", poor working memory, etc. can cause issues that can be expensive.
@naomicfisher I can't remember where I saw this, otherwise I would site the source... But the teacher who invented homework did so as a punishment for his students. It was never intended as the norm.
The system needs to change. Like. Half a century ago.
@AdaraJohnson9@louiepradagu661@FLOMlLLI I have nieces and nephews who were speaking full sentences at age two, and used to know a lot of kids who were speaking very clearly by the time they were three.
Smart kids like them are out there, waiting to shock and confound you.
