@NormanDodd_knew That was just a generalization because you earlier mentioned WASPs which I associated. Ak and FL are interesting places because both types of Americans are combined! Hopefully one day these are our main concerns again!
@Mob1us0ne@AbottofThe It wasn’t better than the P-80 or especially the Meteor, which was the best of the early 40s jet fighters. Which is another fun discussion!
@Mob1us0ne@AbottofThe I have. I watch all of em. I don’t care about the -262. I don’t think it was a good fighter operationally, 5k -262s entering service in 1944 would not have won the war. But it did influence US fighter design. Both things are true.
@Mob1us0ne@AbottofThe What difference does it make? We used a ton of shit from the krauts after the war. It’s a benefit of winning! We’re still using MG-42 derivatives today! It’s a great machine gun! They were and are good engineers.
@AbottofThe@Mob1us0ne Except for the sweep angle and the slats they designed it. The F-86 is a testament to American adaptability and pragmatism. They shipped a -262 wing to LA to figure the slats out! That’s at least copying some test answers! Who cares though?!
@Mob1us0ne@AbottofThe Do you think they got the idea for Slats from the P-51? What’re you talking about? They couldn’t meet the USAF requirements for the design without referring to Paperclip reference material and an entire -262 wing!
