The Electric Vehicle Association of Alberta (EVAA) was founded Earth Day 2014 to spread awareness as well as promote adoption of EVs and charging infrastructure
This month our volunteers brought their own EVs and spent long days answering questions at @Official_WEM and the Edmonton Fall Home Show.
1,301 conversations later, here's what visitors told us 👇
What's the question you get asked most about your EV?

This local EV conversation of a 1956 Porsche Speedster has to be seen to be believed! Having gone for a spin in it, it's a truely special vehicle.
Check it out yourself this Saturday! https://t.co/v1d4yDIcZP
@ABDanielleSmith@GasBuddy You're Welcome Albertans! EVs now stand alone paying for our road maintenance through the $200/yr registration tax we pay 😉.
Even factoring that in, it is still way cheaper to operate an EV compared to an ICE.
If you haven't yet, take one for a test drive.
The EVAA Fall 2026 Newsletter is out! It’s been a busy summer for EVAA, with plenty happening around Alberta.
Have a look at the Fall 2026 issue — and drive electric!

Great to see electric trucking coming to our neighbouring province. Hopefully it means we'll see infrastructure built here in the not too distant future.
For those still driving a gas car in Canada, time to wake the hell up.
Our Premium Tesla Model 3 was $37,500 before taxes and delivery fee. That is nearly $25k under the average price for a new vehicle.
We’ve driven nearly 3,000 km since we got it at the end of June, and over 99% of those I didn’t even have to touch the steering wheel (stats say 98% but the car came with what I think was 40km of manually-driven testing). FSD is free for 3 months due to a friend’s referral.
The home charging cost for the 3,000 km travelled was… $37. $15 July, $16 August, $6 September 1-11th.
At the current gas price in my region, filling up for 3,000 km is on average $480. That is literally 30% of our car payment after our $8k deposit… This brings down our car payment after gas-savings to $350 a month…
So when buying a car in Canada, the question you must ask is: Is there a better gas car than a Premium Tesla Model 3 at $350 a month? The answer is a resounding NO. Then, just go do a free test drive.
You’ll ultimately buy one, and you won’t even have to fill any paperwork or go to a dealership. A few tap on your phone and your life is changed.
Tesla in new blog post on battery fires: "From over 265 billion miles of operation as of the end of 2025, we have no evidence of even a single case of a spontaneous battery failure leading to a vehicle fire in a Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck or Semi."

If you've used a public EV charger in Edmonton or the surrounding area in the past year, please take this short survey and support research into improving the public charging experience.

This is actually, inadvertently, a great example showing how much more dangerous gas vehicles are. Gas cars are 61x more likely to catch fire than EVs. So next time someone says EVs catch fire, show them this clip…
🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day!
