Polkadot is maturing, and in 2026, the focus is clear:
Harden the protocol
Strengthen core systems
Support production-grade applications
That requires engineers who can build at protocol depth and not just deploy smart contracts.
🧵⬇️
We are not dead. We are focused on developing a completely new social app that brings new users into the Polkadot ecosystem.
We will stay quiet until we are ready to share more.
@polkaworld_org@Polkadot Thank you very much for your feedback. <3
I have responded in the comments under the proposal https://t.co/TK6qJnoy1I. Please, have a look.
🗳️ PolkaWorld Weekly OpenGov Vote Recap 🗳️
PolkaWorld reviewed 9 @Polkadot proposals this week. Let’s take a look at how we voted:
⛔️ #1680 [Retroactive] SubWallet Development Aug 2024 - Mar 2025 (1.07M USDC)
https://t.co/G7sxVj4bfx
Abstain
After communicating with the team, we saw a clearer budget breakdown. The development scope is broad and complex, so as non-developers we can’t fully judge each cost’s reasonableness. SubWallet remains an important ecosystem project, though profitability is limited. Currently, their swap feature generates around $10K USD annual profit. Considering all factors, we value the team’s work but abstain due to the large funding request.
❌#1691 PlutoFramework Retroactive grant (142.78K USDT)
https://t.co/f8rTmC8WFA
NAY
We believe this direction is promising as Polkadot app development is still nascent. However, PW rejects proposals with hourly rates above $100. The project is early-stage, validated in hackathons but not broadly adopted yet. We want to know more about future promotion plans.
❌#1692 WAGOI - Empowering drivers through data sovereignty (330K USDC)
https://t.co/i0xN4rpgvw
NAY
Though we supported this proposal in the first vote, HELIKON’s concerns merit further team response. We also want more detailed budget breakdowns, like developer allocation per feature. We’re glad the team responded positively about future Treasury contributions, but heard a VC Bounty may soon launch as a funding avenue.
✅#1693 Polkadot Africa Builder and Community Growth (160.75K USDT)
https://t.co/acY7DW7Wwq
AYE
As before, we see the team has built a promising Polkadot community in Africa. With a clear and reasonable budget, we support the proposal!
❌ #1694 Retroactive - 8 months participation (348 DOT)
https://t.co/JVtFF0XTx9
NAY
Two-thirds opposed, one-third supported. Opponents argue equating active OpenGov voters with Decentralized Voices (DVs) is unreasonable and suggest applying for the fifth DV term for fair compensation. Supporters value SIM-DOT’s fair and objective contributions and believe active, neutral governance participants deserve support—not just W3F-recognized members—to uphold decentralization.
❌ #1695 Snowbridge 2025/2026 Stabilized (v3) (2.44M USDC & 116.53K DOT)
https://t.co/Jv2tF6A21S
NAY
Opponents say personnel costs are far above market rates ($1M for 5 developers). Treasury funds should cover basic costs only. If more is needed, reconsider financing. Although the team has existed 5 years and is delivering, the requested amount is high and they seek Treasury pre-commitments, which is unreasonable.
The team already received $8M last year—enough for development. Administrative costs shouldn’t be Treasury-funded; Treasury should pay for development only.
❌ #1697 Encode Club Tranche 3 Funding Request (128.33K USDC)
https://t.co/I2vcVKqQhB
NAY
Please provide detailed fund usage breakdowns. The current proposal is too vague to assess allocation properly.
✅#1698 Moderation Team Bounty Top-up (46.1K DOT)
https://t.co/t9AU5tXeDT
AYE
The funding amount is reasonable and we support this proposal.
Rosťa has been working on PlutoFramework for over 9 months. He undertook a big risk of working on it without knowing whether it will work out. After hearing feedbacks from other devs at Web3 Summit, we know this is the right path for @Polkadot.
https://t.co/KNguFRVSCX
@joinwebzero@Polkadot Bohemia Roots was an application for DAO management built by a different team. It is a completely different thing than Polkadot Roots app, which is for event management and user onboarding.
Amazing work done by Valentyn at @joinwebzero hackathon in Berlin. His mobile app was the most polished there.
Created using PlutoFrameworkAppTemplate in 2 days.
He began developing with PlutoFramework, C#, .net MAUI & @Polkadot just 2 weeks ago.
Shame he did not win anything.
For anyone interested to learn how I made the Koda mobile app and Polkadot app clone with PlutoFramework during just 1 midnight coding session, I have written a Topic on Polkadot Forum: https://t.co/bYfTR4wWrG
