Kraken is delisting key DeFi/Ethereum OG tokens due to low demand:
24-hour trading volumes:
- $CRV: ~$600K
- $SNX: ~$100K
- $KNC: ~$10K
- $BAL: ~$2K
Surprisingly, $EOS, which once raised $4.2B, only sees ~$100K in volume on Kraken.
For comparison, memecoins on Kraken show decent volumes: $POPCAT at $11M, $DOGE at $19M, and $WIF at $2.4M.
I often get invited to invest into KOL rounds.
I always reject***, despite possibly missing out on big gains.
The deals always come with conditions to shill with post quota. It's understandable.
But quite a few KOLs I talked to are tired of deals that often end up with broken promises leading to damaged relationships and (more recently) negative PnL.
I believe it's much better to invest in seed/private rounds via @echodotxyz or @legiondotcc or a similar product.
They offer more safeguards, clear terms, transparency, and no conditions to promote. No need for SAFTs or other annoyance.
Just sign with a Passkey and you're in.
New protocols should try to get onboarded on those platforms.
While they aren't strictly "KOL rounds," for both Echo and Legion, your social reputation is needed to access the deals.
I like this new private-public sale meta. Just early to say if profitable.
***Exceptions are Bubble maps and Vertex.
Vitalik's timely post: What's next for Ethereum?
After the switch to proof of stake, and launch of blobs, Ethereum development is on decelerating path.
The first ten years of Ethereum have largely been a training stage: now Ethereum's ready to move beyond the enthusiast circle.
We have everything we need, Vitalik claims.
Txs cost below $0.05 and "today, we have all the tools we'll need [...] to build applications that are simultaneously cypherpunk and user-friendly."
So, the era of 2010s Ethereum is behind and 2020s Ethereum requires to:
• Built directly on L2s, not the L1
• Protect privacy by default vs publicity of Eth mainnet
• Anti-sybil should include centralized solutions (eg. SMS)
• Move to account abstraction wallets
• Prove your participation beyond balance of your ETH holdings
"Basically, Ethereum is no longer just a financial ecosystem."
Yet, L2s get a share of criticism:
L2s are far from being protected by code. Only five reached Stage 1 decentralization.
"The ecosystem's standards need to become stricter: so far, we have been lenient and accepted any project as long as it claims to be "on a path to decentralization".
By the end of the year, I think our standards should increase and we should only treat a project as a rollup if it has actually reached at least stage 1."
Overall, Ethereum scaling roadmap is not finished, but work will be more in-the-background.
Devs should start building tools for millions of people to use.
And our mindsets have to readjust accordingly.

What's up with the crypto market?
After a two-week break from actively tracking it, I'm surprised by what's going on.
First, Ethereum Dencun is a massive success in reducing L2 fees, but Ethereum and L2 token performance is disappointing.
I expected a stronger $ETH rally pushed by 1) Dencun 2) ETH ETF speculation 3) Restaking narrative shifting attention to ETH.
But nah.
ETH failed to rally against BTC. L2 tokens perform even worse. And there's little FOMO for ETH ETF so far.
Next, $SOL is a gud coin.
Despite ETH Dencun upgrade and Solana network outage just a month ago, Solana continues to pump.
Is it the market pricing Firedancer upgrade? Or thanks to memecoins?
In any case, I missed the short lived memecoin season. Once again, memecoin mania marked the local market top.
Third, why is #BTC pumping so hard?
I remember reading expectations for BTC ATH in Dec 2024, but we've crossed it 9 months faster!
Why? Seems like CT is also at a loss of a clear explanation with ETH ETF "institutions coming" being the only explanation.
Bitcoin also shines bright for BTC NFTs.
While Pudgies and BAYC dumped by -50% in ETH, Bitcoin NFTs continued to rally with Nodemonkeys leading the pack.
Despite holding a pudgy, my bet is on Bitcoin NFTs for this cycle.
And with Runes protocol launching after the Bitcoin halving, I think bitcoin ecosystem offers better opportunities than Ethereum eco....
Finally, LRT season is almost here: The only thing that really excited me about Ethereum right now.
I expected EtherFi to launch the token first, and they didn't fail to deliver. Investment/listings on Binance & OKx are bullish and I expect other LRT token launches to follow soon.
Especially since Eigenlayer announced the mainnet start with multi-phased approach.
And since competition in LRT space is fierce, each LRT protocol will look for ways to stand out. For example, Swell is launching an L2...
Which leads to.... Zerion L2 announcement.
Monetizing for wallets in crypto is extremely challenging, so launching an L2 offers a nice excuse for a token with higher valuation.
Most probably other wallets will follow. I love it! More airdr0ps for us.
Overall, taking a few weeks off in a bull market can cost dearly in lost opportunities: I missed the whole memecoin season.
But some time off helps to get a new perspective on the market!
Need more time to catch up, so let me know what else I missed during these two-week period?
