I think this is partly correct. Cell phones and social media are indeed the culprits in this strange world atmosphere.
But, it has changed the entire reality we live in. Our world is ruled and dictated by the phones now. It has put up a palpable, almost physical wall around users. Joined online, but separate and isolated irl. A virtual cell.
(Now art, science, & history exhibits are boosted with VR experiences, & audio additions, even when walking along nature park paths)
I just took a trip from Montana to NYC and back. Human interaction is so limited now, users stare into their phones as the means of soothing, of information, news, directions, reviews, complaints, doing business, commercial ad barrages, leisure, getting tips, how-to’s, influences, giving it our secrets, our control, virtually paralyzed without it.
The young generation of users does not know life without it, has not been without it, which is so sad to me.
My kids love the stories of the old days, as I tell them what group interactions and parties were like without a phone in sight, and all the things we did together as teens in a world without cell phones.
We have a lake cabin where there is no cell service, so the kids have parties there now, and it took a while to catch on, once their friends realized they couldn’t use their phones there. But now they enjoy it as a sort of nostalgic fleeting return to the old days.
The cell has become a pocket oracle/scrying mirror that can be carried with them everywhere, a tiny but infinite pocket daemon. And now we have moved into the Ai level of interactions.
True, life would be more interactive and personal if we didn’t have this tech, or if we used it less, but that’s not going to happen, because most people do have it, and won’t be without it.
It’s only going to become more incorporated, more integrated into the lives of humanity, reaching a not so distant time when we are no longer even fully human anymore.
And all the while, the world around us remains as it was, while humanity stares into the screen, seeing instead an entirely different realm.
The irony is not lost on me that I used Ai for the answers to the questions below-
@SchneiderCoop Truth. I hate to have such a basic response, but it’s hard. Some things are easy to parse, others are incrementally deceptive so one is always filtering and filtering. It’s an ongoing puzzle of fluctuating difficulty. Ok, sometimes it’s fun.
In 46 years will someone be reading this tweet to understand 2071. 🤔
I don't think genXers appreciate the generational time they have been blessed to experience.
@SchneiderCoop ... Additionally memes, echo chambers and bubbles often desiminate and propagate a type of branded thought... Sometimes one makes a statement that loses the value of it's own literal meaning for what the branded thoughts imply.
When you realize 99% of the population is constantly arguing every single day over 100% fake history, hoaxes and psyops, you can only laugh at the utter idiocy of it all.
My working theory on electricity is that it's the cautionary story of Satan in the Bible book Revelation. Electricity was bound by grounding rod/chain inside Earth. But was then loosed again to run amok. Electricity 'appeared' in the 1700s, at the time of the Great Repopulation.
@pickiam2 Real sorry to hear it. Stay strong, Sister. I tend to have deeper and heavy dreamstates, but I have a hard time wanting to wake up so I can keep working in them. Still, there have been dream elements that are heard to deal with.
