Part of the discontentment with current geopolitical moves is that the USA became accustomed to being reactive and knee jerk no forethought actions; the withdrawal from Afghanistan by Biden, the pallets of money to Iran by Obama. It was wishful thinking diplomacy. The art of planning, executing, having a grand plan that isn’t one move and hope for best is foreign to us now. A return to multi step plans that span months and years is needed to move the needle forward. A coherent long term plan that eventually reveals itself is fine and preferable to what i just described but requires competence, trust, and vision, things that have been in short supply in US politics for a while.
It’s a paradise weather wise, proximity to hiking (pt Reyes), great cuisine, bookstores, walkable…no way to keep that city down. Too much upside and money, eventually has to reemerge. Requires conscious decision to skip the rage inducing fluff like ancillary issues no one really cares about and focus on electing hard on crime, hard on homelessness and squalor candidate.
@charlesmurray Degree dependent
Writing a book with someone pretty rare….
Forming a partnership for business venture, everyday thing.
Education majors have no need of networking and
Making connections. MBA students totally do.
Short answer is it pooled and collected internally. Longer answer also accurate is that everyone was biased or stupid. Who commits most stabbing? Who is often stabbed? Those facts alone along with an ounce of pride and inquisitiveness would have had them remove his shirt….
You can store 2 quarts on blood in a thigh from broken bone and arterial bleed. Also a massive amount internally in abdomen or potential spaces in thorax.
@BretWeinstein@Cernovich Funny they are doing something likely
Illegal (obstructing traffic flow) instead of opting to vote for policies that enforce existing laws.
@Cernovich Took effort and self reliance. That meant you wanted it; not wanted it handed to you via phones, cards, allowances and transportation. Big distinction.
My kids use machetes, chainsaws, mattocks, axes. And we live in city on land, their friends don’t know which end of a shovel to hold. It’s rare to find parents and kids who work in yard together, cut down a tree, do anything manual. People don’t even pick up their food anymore…it’s delivered. The idea of growing it is unfathomable.
@Cernovich Dad had a lunch box. Most blue collar guys did. All the fat people in cubicle jobs I had started talking about lunch at the food court before 930 AM. Never had a chance, destined to be fat. My dad is 75 and can wear what he got married in.
Teaching kids to cook basics: eggs and sausage for breakfast, steaks and rice, salad basics, before they leave home is essential. Otherwise can’t control oils (olive, avacado, ghee, butter) and relegate them to big ag and processed shit. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Just cast iron stuff, broiler, few key items.
@Cernovich It’s true one son’s acquaintances a few years older finished applied mathematics at well known university, just accepted a job with Jane street. Not building anything, figuring out universe, but finance. Nerdy brilliant kids are becoming quants not working on Manhattan projects.
Just went as part of bend Eugene Oregon downwards west coast road trip
Highly recommend the private tour. Takes you to off beaten laths part of Hearst. Here’s my pic from this pool and the outside one! And a few others. Highly recommend. Boys loved it. Do biltmore for the east coast side.
@Cernovich@christopherrufo Sometimes it is how the house feels. If 80% of time is spent in kitchen and living room and they’re wide open and connected, that feels small no matter the size. Also letting kids mope in rooms during day or evening is a no no too.
REI as well and 50% of time I forget by time I check out that’s it there somewhere behind register. It’s becoming more and more common, but clearly one of those mysteries best not named or addressed and hidden by “changing habits” platitude. Maybe downstream from woke dying can be addressing these things directly and honestly and not being labeled racist or whatever handy slur best assures we as a society never have to have true, if uncomfortable discussions.
