This lecture was a powerful way to commemorate Yom HaShoah, World Holocaust Remembrance Day.

On Wednesday afternoon, students in Ms.Hildebrand’s sophomore World Literature classes had the privilege of attending a lecture presented by a local Holocaust education speaker, Ronnie Hirschhorn.

The reaction, or lack thereof, of the world to the Holocaust was also discussed, as well as how some aspects of current events can relate to what is happening in the world right now in Ukraine and how the world is responding to this humanitarian crisis.

Mrs. Hirschhorn has had the distinct privilege of studying at some of the world’s most renowned Holocaust education institutions, such as Yad Vashem in Israel.

The lecture greatly covered the topic of resistance during the Holocaust, including what the different forms of resistance looked like, the role of Polish young women who acted as couriers and played a major role in the resistance movement, and the role of partisan groups.
