We've rebranded! And we are code complete! We are finishing up some internal testing before releasing the project to the public, but look forward to news soon!
About Project Grookey (@PoGOFrontier)... Along with my Silph play, it's been hiatus for months as I finish school + start work. I apologize to delay everything for as long as I did. I transferred ownership to @TalonFlo and the team has done some incredible work this past month!
@Stumvomax@InadequancePOGO Apologies for the confusion, these links explain optimized charge move timing. Our article goes a little further than that and depicts how not all optimized charge move opportunities are equal. Here is @WallowerPoGo’s explanation on the difference:

And I thought all the mechanics had been found... Very cool!
This isn't an alternative to charge move timing. It's like charge move timing+. Won't win you every game but will give you a win con once in a while.
Beware: don't focus too much on timing and get ko'd with energy 😅
While play testing PoGO Frontier, we discovered a new technique empowered by Niantic's recent fast move changes. Introducing "cycle resetting," another optimization on charged move timing:

@vaNNiiRL@DijonTheDjinn@SkippoLePimp_@Yerkoski_ Hello! Our article doesn’t really talk about the general concept of resets. Cycle resetting is a specific charge move sequence to delay your opponent’s optimal timing. If you have talked about this niche technique, could you link a snippet so we can credit you.
✅ Changed the introduction to focus on the main topic
✅ Noted the difference between cycle resetting and charged move optimization
✅ Removed any regional phrases or terms
✅ More proofreading
Let us know if our revision is easier to understand: https://t.co/e9KPzfXzRU
@PoGoKieng@Cochin0Mum@Easleydone27@InadequancePOGO@WallowerPoGo Absolutely agree! First article jitters😅.
- Too long of an intro that doesn't introduce the meat of the article
- Cycle resetting may confuse people with generally "resetting" the game
- Special care to write for a global audience
Look out for an edit soon, thank you everyone!
@PoGOFrontier@InadequancePOGO I'll definitely be thinking about those situations as I prep for world's. So thank you for that.
Just an oversight on the wording and I can tell no harm intended. Hopefully we can move forward and incorporate more advanced knowledge into our game play.
@KevinSaludares Thank you for the response. Admittedly it took a few minutes to find a situation where cycle resetting flips a matchup. More likely, the benefit is just getting a turn or two of advantage (which may not change an outcome outright).
@PoGoKieng@InadequancePOGO Thank you for the response! The niche cases we presented were the topic of the article. Unfortunately, I think we spent to much time explaining the prerequisite information: giving the impression that optimal charge move timing was our main idea. We appreciate everyone's input!
@InadequancePOGO Hello. To clarify, the potential to deliberately reset timing to disadvantage the opponent was always there, but we couldn't find any documentation or pro player analysis that highlights this technique. If there is some content about this topic out there, we'd love to credit it!
@ventuski@Cloise_ Ah ok, well we are glad we could share it with battlers who weren't aware yet. If you have the time, please do link any content you'd like us to credit. Thank you!
@IgnacioLoyola3 You can definitely reach highest level without thinking about the topics in this article, but what we try to emphasize is there is always new things to learn about the game. The game is easy to pick up and learn, and PoGO Frontier is trying to make it accessible without grinding.
@Tatti336427 Great question. Yes, for the cases where a cycle reset helps the opponent (like 2t vs 3t), it’s best to throw at first optimal timing. I’m sure folks already do this (it’s very natural), but we wanted to highlight why it’s different from other cases.
@swaggron333 This is a great video to bring up! It adds to the topic of our article. Cycle resetting is a way to “optimize” optimized charged moves. With multiple opportunities to throw a charge move at perfect timing, we show how throwing a little later can mess with your opponent’s timing.
@swaggron333 Hello! To clarify, you could perform this technique even before the recent fast move changes. However it was less of a priority when denials were available. We consider it “new” since, to our knowledge, it was not discussed or named.
