Perhaps, one of the most celebrated watercolorists in #Singapore, #OngKimSeng is known as the “maestro of light”. His watercolor paintings is characterized by a balance of light and dark watercolor shadows. As seen from the artwork above which portrays the “Singapore River”.
The color composition of his painting truly depicts scenic places in Bali to Singapore. He has gained recognition and awards from the American Watercolor Society. For which he received the prestigious Dolphin Fellowship (2000).
Did you know that despite being one of the most celebrated female artists, becoming an artist was not her first aspiration. In fact, she had an interest in the sciences and biology. #FridaKahlo originally wanted to become a doctor before discovering her passion for art.

Georgette Chen (1906-1993) was one of the pioneers of the #Nanyang style of art. She is well-known for her works with oil & post-impressionism artworks. One of her biggest contributions to Singapore’s proceeding generation of artists was the time she made to teach at #NAFA.
Painted in ca. 1970 by Singaporean artist #GeorgetteChen, “Lotus in a Breeze” is one of the staple pieces you can see in the #NationalGallery Singapore!
