Black gay bars are closing while everybody profits off Black queer culture. Ballroom gets copied, our slang gets recycled, our aesthetics get monetized, & suddenly non-Black people are the face of “Black gay” events.
How do u consume the culture but erase the people who built it?
Y’all look for the gay in EVERYTHING… this was a very normal interaction… and I swear y’all only do this to black men (regardless if they’re gay or not) #LoveIsland
Out of all the old franchises that have attempted returns, SCARY MOVIE slips comfortably back into exactly what it used to be better than most. Whether or not that's a good thing is up for debate, but it's undeniably true to itself. Can't lie, this nonsense still makes me laugh!
Tonight’s theater experience: The Furious.
Action packed thrill ride from beginning to end. Some really great acting and chemistry between the two leads, Xie Miao and Joe Taslim.
Seen it through AMC’s Screen Unseen and wasn’t expecting an action film but I def had a great time.
It was an engaging story with some good comedic moments sprinkled in between all the action. Def worth the trip to the theater.
IS GOD IS was a superb film. So much can be said.
The telepathy & shared dreams, Vivica Fox’s character as GOD postured & figured like a sacred painting in the bed with a Greek Chorus of nurses behind her, the clicking of their nails & jewelry, Racine having some of her dad in her & it’s connection to the ending, feminine desirability, Morrisonian democracy and the ephemeral collectives who steal away to share stories of survival, black femicide, the black church, black patriarchy, black feminist rage…
All in all I’m just refreshed by a highly original and very black film. I can’t wait to see it again. It is a black feminist greek tragedy spaghetti western hip-hop odyssey flick
