Trying to plan a wedding in less than a week, even a simple one, is proving to be more work than I expected! But I can’t wait to say “I do!” For now -- I’m off to work!
Y’all -- I asked my girl to marry me and she said YES! We’re getting married! I made the engagement ring out of Monopoly money, which makes me pretty cool, I think.
I can see a thousand miles into your eyes,
and never take a single step.
My heart longs to take that journey.
My soul was ready years ago.

Hold my hand and hold my heart,
never let either go.
Our world's aren't very far apart,
so let whatever's happening grow.
Face to face, looking into your eyes,
I get lost in all of you;
your presence is like beautiful skies,
turning my grayscale world to blue.

Staring into your eyes
as we hold each other close,
I cup your face in my hands,
and lean in as we both
close our eyes,
my lips hovering over yours.
You emanate
a palpable anticipation,
but I only make you
wait a few seconds,
and then...contact.

With a gentle kiss
I pass the fiery torch
that I've carried for you
since first we met.
Its flames grow
bigger and brighter
in a burning blaze
of red and orange-hued passion,
for it has found where it belongs.

i have escaped
and moved past
the chains that held me down
and bars that held me back
and gates that held me in
I have found a new life
and moved forward with the
people who helped me up
and words that helped me see
and peace that helped me breathe
I am free to live.
Only hours have passed
since last we kissed
and I have missed
our secret tryst
What will happen
when next we meet?
Your kisses sweet,
are a tasty treat.

Last night
when our lips met,
you stole my breath
and left me
wanting to steal it back.
A vicious battle
of tug-of-war ensued,
a fight that neither of us
wanted to end.
When we meet again,
let’s pick back up
right where we left off.

Tiny little songbird,
you sing so nice and sweet;
Oh what joy you have
in every little tweet.
I close my eyes and listen --
I cannot see your face;
unlike me you’re free to fly,
while I’m stuck here in one place.

Interesting. I just discovered that there are people who write short poems on Twitter. I’ve been writing poetry for years, but have never worked within such tight constraints. I may give it a shot.
