In the hush before the rain
earth opens its dark mouth
heavy with the secret wails
of ages pressed between stones
A storm hangs half-suspended,
waiting to be released
Before the dark swallows it
the last spark threads the night
a lantern of belief tends the quiet
silence sings the song of love
shadows walk the serenity,
cutting the deep and narrow
towards a fertile surrender
This earthly wilderness
chisels itself into a home
the one eternal pilgrimage

…Because races condemned to one hundred years of solitude did not have a second opportunity on earth.
– Gabriel García Márquez
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Two decades of tireless work restoring habitat & creating eco-mooring sites (so boats' anchors don't tear seagrass out by the roots) by @seahorsecharity & @NOCnews, has paid off with a spectacular summer of seahorses off the Dorset coast this year 🌊

“The seafloor crawls with evolution, / and I always want the next thing— / that monster in the black-deep.”
