I spoke to Roy Danforth the other day.

It’s been 50 years since he left Syracuse. I talked to SU’s first Final Four coach about life, legacy, Jim Boeheim and how he wants to be remembered.

Charlotte’s one of the strongest feature writers at The D.O.

Pieces like this are why. Take some time out of your afternoon to learn about the man behind Harry’s today.

As part of my story on Casey Powell, I got to sit down with Le Moyne AD Phil Brown a few weeks ago.

In his office, I asked him what he envisioned shaping Le Moyne into when he took his job.

Something to consider as Le Moyne moves to the Metro.

[Mauricio Palmar @PointPalmar]

From my @USALMag story on Casey Powell yesterday.

In about a year, he’ll start fixing his eyes on the Metro championship instead.

[Pete Thamel @PeteThamel]

Sources: Le Moyne College is on the cusp of joining The Metro Conference in all sports starting in 2027-28. The sides are deep in discussions with The Metro (formerly the MAAC), and a deal is expected to come together in the near future. Le Moyne is leaving the NEC.

According to this, Syracuse spent in the neighborhood of $10-12m on its roster this season.

Puts it alongside Clemson and NC State.

A deep dive with @MattNorlander into how much each high-major basketball roster costs. It ranges from $5 million to over $25 million.

For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.

I wrote about Casey Powell.

For my first @USALMag feature, I went to Le Moyne to talk to its newest head coach about his return to Syracuse, the challenges of being a first-time head coach, and the transformative power of dreams.

Casey Powell became a star at Syracuse. Now he’s taking on the giant next door with a small budget and an underdog mindset.

Mauricio Palmar spent a day with Le Moyne to learn how the program is taking shape under its new leader.

I don’t blame Jayden at all for those final two plays. If you let a 3 man or 4 man rush get home when you have 6 protectors I can’t blame the QB lol

On a similar note, I asked Umari Hatcher about next week.

In a world where Angeli, Odom and Nelson may be out, how confident is he in his ability to do this with Danny Lauter?

Here’s what he had to say:

[Mauricio Palmar @PointPalmar]

Steve Angeli was out. Amari Odom was, too. For a second straight week, Malachi Nelson left the game with an injury.

And Umari Hatcher still did what he does best.

“I will make those plays, no matter who’s in there."

Both Malachi Nelson and Lincoln Kienholz had inconsistent days under center, throwing four combined interceptions Saturday against Louisville. But Kienholz’s three total touchdowns sealed Syracuse’s 11th consecutive ACC loss, from @PointPalmar.

FINAL | Louisville 34, Syracuse 26

Umari Hatcher put up 224 yards, but SU's inconsistent second-half offensive play put the win out of its reach. Malachi Nelson again exited the game with an injury.

The Orange drop their 11th consecutive ACC game.

[Mauricio Palmar @PointPalmar]

Danny Lauter is in the game again.

Malachi Nelson previously limped off to the injury tent. For the second straight game, he'll have to watch the end from the sideline.

[Mauricio Palmar @PointPalmar]

It might be Kienholz.

After Louisville produced just 10 yards of offense in the third quarter, the Cardinals punched in a touchdown to push their lead back up to 34-26.

[Mauricio Palmar @PointPalmar]

Malachi Nelson and Lincoln Kienholz are having a tale of two halves right now.

Nelson just threw his second interception of the game. Whichever quarterback figures it out first will win.

The drought ends with a 34-yard field goal from Shay Barker. Syracuse is still down 28-26 in this game.

[Mauricio Palmar @PointPalmar]

Neither side has scored a point in this second half.

Syracuse has gone punt, fumble, interception, punt in its four third-quarter drives. Louisville, meanwhile, has gone punt, interception, punt, punt in the third.
