We were balling out without Rashford last season. He came back and we’ve been out of sorts. 1+1=2, very lazy analysis. Niggas won’t consider the fact that Amad is injured, Rashford hasn’t played with our 9 Sesko, we have a new midfield who are still adapting to eachother and our defense is shit and we should’ve signed defenders this summer. I read a William Pacho story about his best friend, Moisés Caicedo on @PlayersTribune

They were roommates at Independent Del Valle, the Ecuadorian club where many of their biggest stars come from.

He said when they grew a bit older, they rented an apartment. Caicedo cooked while he did the dishes, and they switched roles everyday.

When Caicedo joined the senior team, he started to make money and he got a Hyundai Sonata. Pacho said they looked at him like a big boy. He said “it looked like he got a Ferrari”. Beyond the excitement of Caicedo’s progression, he said seeing his best friend and roommate progress offered him hope. He knew he could do it too.

But the greatest pain of his life would come.

When he was told that he was going to make his debut, he rang his mother, probably the person he loves the most in his life, and it was crickets on the other side.

She never called back, and he sent a text asking her to be awake to watch him make his debut.

He was getting condolence messages on his phone and he got confused. He rang his sister and she said it’s a rumour that an ambulance had taken her away.

He poured his energy into the game so he could make his sick mother proud. The actual situation wasn’t confirmed to him because he had an important game.

When he finished his game, they confirmed the worst to him. His mother had died of cancer. The club, coach, family didn’t tell him to keep his head in the game.

He said he travelled home that night in his match kit. And had suicidal thoughts. He loves his mother.

If you’ve ever lost a loved one, you’ll know the feeling of guilt and sadness are irrepressible. His first game back, he got a red card. He was sad, but life continued.

After that, he kept playing and Borussia Mochengladbach signified interest in him. He agreed. He wanted to get a car to celebrate it. He wanted to be like his friend, Caicedo. He went for a Kia Sport, and at the car dealership, he saw a real estate agent. The man sold him a plan and he instead went to get a house, something his mother would love. He got it for his siblings.

He said the week his siblings moved in was one of the happiest he’s felt in life. Meanwhile, the deal wasn’t with Moechengladbach wasn’t sealed. He’d paid 50% for the house. And would balance it with his new deal.

Deal off. Financial disagreements. He said he went back to train and his teammates made jest of him.

When he got back playing, he dislocated both shoulders. He couldn’t use either because he underwent a surgery. They fed and bathed him.

It was in his recuperation Royal Antwerp signed him.

He said he felt really lonely and sent a message to Caicedo, stating how much he understood why he called every night crying when he joined Brighton.

The rest is history. Pacho has won the UEFA Champions League twice, and played at the World Cup for his country.

To succeed at anything, you need yourself, your belief, your confidence, and good people.
