I experienced a similar scenario in 2022. I had planted two acres of maize huko Kilgoris. The mahindi choma crew came to my shamba, and we agreed on 150K for the entire shamba for them to harvest the maize. They were very confident it would be a full canter.

They went into the shamba and harvested, but unfortunately, it couldn’t fill the lorry. That’s when they started changing the story, saying they could only pay 80K. I politely asked them what the agreed amount was, and they said, lorry haijajaa. I smiled and told them to either pay the 150K or return my maize to every stalk so that I could wait for it to dry.

Kidogo kidogo, the jamaa started the lorry and began hurling insults, saying ati maasai atanijua mimi ni nani. I calmly drove another car and blocked the lorry’s way. I politely asked him again, lipa 150K tuliagree ama mahindi urudishie mahali ulitoa. A stalemate followed.

He became very agitated and tried to get physical. I simply called the OCS, and five police officers arrived. The dude paid me the full amount and left, still insulting me.

Honestly, this would be a much tighter game than most people are thinking.

I still think United 2008 would scrape through with a 2–1 win, but it wouldn’t be comfortable at all. The only reason the scoreline is that close is because most of that United side is pushing 50 now.
