"Ce monde n’est pas à inventer à partir de rien. Il est là, en friche. Il attend que nous osions penser, décider et bâtir. Non pas en rêvant l’unité là où règne la diversité, mais en assumant la complexité, en tissant les compromis, en acceptant les imperfections."
@Ilmejid You're talking as if Israel hasn't been marauding across Lebanon for the last 3 years, and that we went there willingly. The whole point is to stop the attack and find an accepted way for them to leave us alone.
@DenialLaw Because decentralized and redundant infrastructure is good, no single point of failure. Also because of the second airport, more ports, more roads and connections have a multiplier effect economically and create opportunities and business indirectly.
@Ilmejid It doesn't also help that the Lebanese state simply can't use Hezb because it's impossible to predict and control their actions in the context of the regional conflict. They are definitely a useful Iranian asset on the other hand because it doesn't suffer from all the above
@Ilmejid It's only a leverage if Hezb is occupying Israeli settlements and we didn't have to rely on Trump to keep the Israelis on a leash. Today hezb is a strategic liability from a Lebanese perspective.

@Ilmejid Hezb and the Axis will never be as powerful as they were on the night of the 7th of October. Do we give it another go and try to militarize Lebanese society by force and build another version of baathist Syria? Is this even possible?
@Ilmejid Many people ignore that the current outcome is the culmination of Hezbollah's free reign, its decades long capacity building, maturation of the organization and its social and political project and its regional hegemonic project (they thought they won in Syria).

Lebanon has been at war with Israel three times since the withdrawal of the Israeli troops in 2000. Three devastating wars that have halted the development and economy of our country already facing so much back home.
Overall, we have lost between 14 000 to 15 000 people, and more than 45 000 have been injured - and we are still counting. The vast majority of the southerners have been displaced, more than 5 times for some. And the infrastructure, residential and agricultural damage will cost us dozens of billions of Dollars.
Some use these numbers to justify fighting, others, to put a halt to the bloodshed. What is certain is that civilians are tired, they are scared, and cannot cope indefinitely, especially at a time when the financial crisis is still impacting the country, when humanitarian aid remains extremely limited, when no reconstruction is planned, and when Hezbollah itself has suffered so many losses (thousands of its own fighters, in addition to a large chunk of its military arsenal and logistics).
Trump reportedly lashed out at Netanyahu during a phone call
Axios, citing a U.S. official, revealed details of a phone conversation between the U.S. president and the Israeli prime minister.
“You’ve completely lost your mind. If it weren’t for me, you’d be in prison. I’m saving your ass. Everyone hates you now. Everyone hates Israel because of this,” Trump allegedly said.
According to the outlet, the heated exchange was triggered by Washington’s concerns that Israel’s actions in Lebanon could derail ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations.
