Election Day 2024 is one year – just 365 days – from today. 12 months from now we will go to the polls to stand up for our communities & our values.
Are you ready?? Here are 12 things YOU can do, now and over the next 12 months, to make sure we win big on November 5, 2024. 🧵
.@IowaSEA on new school voucher numbers: imagine what #Iowa's public schools could do with unlimited budget.
"We could have nurses and counselors in every building, one-to-one assistance for any child who needs it, music, art, and shop supplies to develop new talent and skills.."
That ain’t happening in Iowa right now. @IowaGOP making it pretty clear that government ought to be powerful, invasive, and dismissive of local control.
Iowans shouldn’t have to jump through 50 hoops to start a small business. But right now, there are over 100 professional licensing functions across 11 agencies in state government.
That’s why I’m proposing we shrink government! Make it efficient, effective, and SMALL!
During the 2018 #iagov campaign, @KimReynoldsIA ended press conferences in July but promised to hold them weekly if she won. Didn't keep that promise but held them occasionally for a while.
Just ten news conferences during all of 2022, none after July. https://t.co/L7pugZTs7J
An economic look at Iowa’s School Vouchers Program:
Looks BAD for public schools. Here’s why:
Let’s say 2 kids in a classroom of 30 take vouchers and leave public for private school.
That class/school just lost ~$15,000 in revenue.

@HouseGOP So is the price of gas and the price of milk and inflation and those are what you campaigned on, not Hunter. So far I’ve heard more about Hunter than Main Street issues.
@LauraRBelin@SarahforIowa True - it’s not a guarantee.
But it’s not the prevailing method of organizing in Iowa. The prevailing best practices involve narrow targeting, and the messaging is uncoordinated and/or complex.
Talking plainly to everyone needs to become the norm.
Lots of navel-gazing in the Iowa Democratic Party right now. Go everywhere, talk to everybody, be approachable. That’s what @RobSandIA did in 2018 while some other statewides ran the well funded data based “best practices” GOTV approach. I dare say it’s what …. 1/3
That’s what the Fetterman campaign did in PA. Isn’t @BrendanMcP the guy who ran a similar campaign for Mayor Pete in the 2020 caucuses?
It’s becoming pretty clear what approach wins, and which approach doesn’t. CC @DebCares4Iowa, as she’s pushing discussion on this today. 3/3
It’s what @SarahforIowa does as well. It wasn’t just money that won that race. Clear messaging from a quality candidate who doesn’t ignore any demographic, but rather goes everywhere and talks to everyone. That’s what the Fetterman… 2/3
Blessings to all candidates Tuesday. No matter the result, love your people.
Blessings to all voters.
No matter the result, love your people.
And then remember: They’re all your people.
Enough with division. Love your people isn’t a hashtag. It’s a calling.
Constituents are receiving flyers falsely insinuating that @priesforiowa supports "defunding the police" which is NOT part of @iowademocrats platform. @IowaGOP should be ashamed of paying for such lies. @jackwhitver should denounce that tactic of his party.https://t.co/1mUsqK3Mlw
