Millennials are the boomers of western world. The world was much easier (or maybe that’s people think)

But the below points are wrong:

1. A lot of millennials were in tier 3 and villages with no hope of upward mobility. Don’t confuse them with the top 10%

2. State run schools were few. The seats were much fewer than today. The competition was brutal

People look at past and think it was so easy back then. It wasn’t. Hindsight is always easy.

There was no internet. You hardly knew what’s out there. Your prospective engg and B school was just what you have heard from random people. You would just take a leap of faith.

Ragging was brutal.

Real estate was cheaper? Based on today’s income yes. Based on income back then, no. Options were few and frauds were as high as today. Zero rights if you bought precon

Stock market had opportunities- yes. Just that no one knew about the stock market. All you heard was scams.

Education loan was difficult.

But yes, life was a bit easier. The distractions were few and relationships were very in-person. Infy or TCS will pick you if you knew basic skills. 11 month rental advance in BLR was a thing back then also. HSR was a no-go area. Indiranagar was relatively affordable. Gold was 10k per 10gm. But 10k was a big amount.

And yes. The most important thing- there was no digital medium to record stupidity. Whatever happened back then is just a faint memory now and it doesn’t sit at a cloud storage somewhere
