More B than A. This isn’t a normal picture you should have your kid in. But I’m not bothered by it nor would I moralf*g about it. This is a good representation of freedom and individualism.
Of A:
1) unsettling 🚫
2) culture of violence 🚫
3) abnormal ✅
Of B:
1) Freedom ✅
2) individualism ✅
3) normal 🚫
When the Hart-Celler Act passed, its proponents swore up and down that it would not change the demographic makeup of the country. So "the Matt Walshes of 80 years ago"...were right.
When the Reagan amnesty-for-enforcement deal was struck, critics to Reagan's right said we'd get the amnesty but not the enforcement. So "the Matt Walshes of 40 years ago"...were right.
I’m one of them. My great grandparents came 1900-1910. He’s basically saying “when your great grandparents came it wasn’t so great either.” I can understand that perspective, especially from a native 120 years ago. Since his position isn’t: “and therefore, all decedents Ellis islanders should deported”, I’m ok with it. I dont view that my decent from Ellis islanders means I have to support high levels of immigration. Ultimately the country was ok, but it took 50+ years of zero immigration. But I wouldn’t dispute that it changed the country permanently.
The post Hart Cellar wave clearly must come to an end. If he wants to point out, “and by the way Ellis island wasn’t a proper way to do it either”, I’m fine with it.
@Rye_Sullivan_@ywomendeservles It’s like they aren’t even trying. They didn’t even put a fake username or subreddit to make it look real. It’s just text.
Leftists and liberals would piss and moan if a constitutional amendment removing birthright citizenship was being pushed. And if it passed they would say all sorts of histrionic things about how it’s fascism in our time. Lib lefts vocally support the constitution in this specific instance because a plain reading of it seemingly supports their preferred policy outcome. But when it doesn’t, it’s a white supremacist document that should change with the times.
While I disagree that birth right citizenship is a “dumb idea” this is a refreshing take.
Just because you do not like, or do not agree with something doesn’t mean you can change the constitution by decree or mallet.
That’s an incredibly dangerous idea.
You change it the right way or not at all.
Let’s be honest though.
@NiftuA@bentrose2023@CameronCorduroy How about we cede the residential parts of DC back to Maryland whence they came, and give Puerto Rico independence? Then everyone gets fair representation. Deal?
@RobotPerson78@unit285@MattWalshBlog Cash businesses still pay income tax. They often just pay less of it, illegally, because they can get away with it
