Our new board had their first sit down in May, and it was exactly the kind of meeting they had hoped for.
Substantive, warm, and full of the kind of thinking that only happens when the right people are in the room.

There is something about seeing a place with your own eyes that no amount of planning can replace.
Our #DataTamashaAfrica26 Chair recently made the trip to Zanzibar, and what was meant to be a site visit turned into something more. A quiet confirmation that this is exactly where #DTA2026 belongs.
Zanzibar has always been a place where people, ideas, history and cultures meet. And this August, we get to add our own chapter to that story. Come and be part of our story. @dLabTz

16 women leaders in Kasangati showed up, learned, and led.
Last week, we partnered with @VukaHerAfrica to run a #digitalliteracy and safety training in Luganda because most online spaces are built in English, and that shouldn't be a barrier to women's participation.

The @AMWIK State of Women in Media in Kenya Report 2026, exposes a systemic leaky pipeline driven by deep structural inequalities, economic insecurity, and safety threats.
Despite strong educational qualifications, women journalists face a steep glass ceiling, making up a only 2.8% of media owners and 3.7% of managing editors.
This lack of leadership is coupled with job instability, where nearly 60% of women operate in vulnerable freelancing, internship, or correspondent roles, and fewer than 14% secure permanent employment.
Our call for submissions for #DataTamshaAfrica2026 in collaboration with @dLabTz is still open till the end of this month.
