Solar innovation? $MAXN is everything Silicon USA IP and yet we can't seem to get over fact that China bought the IP rights to scale its mfg. Outside of $FSLR, we have very little IP in USA around solar anymore. $MAXN was the last chance... everything about USA innovation is in $MAXN yet..
and one last thing @JigarShahDC - if we want to skate where the puck is going, instead of pulling the goalie out to hopefully win a last minute chance, why didn't we include electrolyzers in the tariffs since we actually do manufacture those in USA with $PLUG power in NY? Ill bet we will be looking at this next - but ONLY when our industries are on verge of complete destruction.
$MAXN TOPCONShingled tech and specifically 24.9% IBC efficiency and advancing is a real disappointment and consequence of these actions. Long running 27%+ now on BC tech. And let’s see if USA actually believes in its IP law in this country since much of the mfg techniques were born out of $SPWR that Qcells, $CSLR and other are using…. $MAXN is the greatest IP portfolio out of Silicon Valley. I would imagine we will view these things differently now since there is high political optics to let tMAXN defend their IP since it has some China touch now. So we continue to kick cans along the road towards creating an industry with less volatility.
I respect your work but this is an attempt on trying to control the narrative. Chinas massive scale plummeted prices. Just like US expansion of natural gas production plummeted energy prices in 2011-2020 and companies are on brink.
The only US company anymore is $FSLR with any tech advantage. And their tech is very specific and not high efficiency vs the advances in panel tech.

@JigarShahDC@EmilyRPeck@felixsalmon There are no more USA companies with IP - $FSLR. $MAXN is the last chance but that company is almost destroyed now.
Efficiency in solar matters - China owns this.
If this is the case, when does US simply work with China to advance its long standing IP with $MAXN. Or are we going to let another American solar story dry on the vine? We are now going to be subject to lower efficiency technologies vs high efficiency. I would not say they lost the narrative on this one.
You and I both know we need “coordination” and “cooperation” withing US borders on China involvement to be sure we don’t miss out on efficiency.
Do you remember how scared America was at Honda and Toyota? Now every lives their Tacoma.
We can do better than building walls around trade which ultimately was a signal that we lost 15yrs in China to mfg of the renewable economy. All imo.
Tariffs won't save us, fact. What we need is bridge building mechanisms - perhaps this is the first round/shot.
Anyone remember 80s/90s fear over Japan car imports?
Now everyone loves their Tacoma!
@OnlyFol35201188 Ill give you frustration and raise you on my delete. HF's though are one way moths to a light bulb anymore... it creates extrodinary swings and deep and fast corrections that are built on capital power than anything more...
Those HFs made a cool 40% running the quant sell magnet on
$PLUG $GME $AMC $SPWR
If you think you are buying/selling shares anymore from other buyers/sellers. Pft.
The game is highly controlled. Thanks to @SECGov who gave the keys to the castle of efficient markets. They have created another way for capital to stay central to the HFs. Another way to push out the 90% - great job Gensler.
I hope some of these fundamental folks are right now running numbers on $NOVA and continue this squeeze to $20!
Sure, an asset sale maybe or cash flow from residuals to buy out the extremely cheap debt. The CEO is no joke imo.
More partnerships, less tariffs - America is declaring defeat in ways. Government sponsored or not - Chinas renewable mfg capabilities and products are world class. It needs to be said out loud.
We are simply playing catchup - if goal is jobs, partner with downstream mfgs in China. Most of the tech is in China anymore..
