If this was a movie, you’d think it’s corny. His life reads like fiction because that’s what alignment with God looks like. Too good to be true.

I’m no expert on GOATA but the concept that he put too much force on the joint in a compromised position, which can be traced back to a tendency to do so based on general movement patterns, not only completely makes sense, but is quite clearly what happened.

If you walk around with duck feet and collapsed arches, you’re constantly stressing your knee joints, leaving them more vulnerable to injury.

And guess what? The way you do anything is the way you do everything. So when you make athletic movements, your movement patterns don’t magically change. You’re going to do the same thing, with a ton of force applied. This will lead to injury.

This isn’t voodoo, this is common sense. Shocking that there’s an adverse response to any of it. Denying it is silliness.

So many people give advice to prevent the next guy from suffering like they did. Which is a seemingly noble act.

But if I didn’t fail endlessly, suffer tremendously, and get absolutely brought to my knees I would not know God like I do.

We’re closest to Him when we’re at our most broken. I think you should suffer.

The fact of the matter is there’s no “right” way to do almost anything.

Everyone has different personality types, perspectives, inclinations, tendencies, insights, strengths, weaknesses, so on and so forth.

So anyone on the internet telling you that you “should” be doing something a certain way doesn’t even understand that. Which is only secondary level understanding.

So any advice they try to give *you* is immediately invalidated. Why would you listen to someone who hasn’t even broken past surface level understanding?

Massive advantage in not taking people’s actions at face value and instead considering *why* they’re doing what they do.

Girl who gets cosmetic work done doesn’t like the way she looks and is severely insecure.

Guy who owns a really nice car is seeking social validation because he thinks he isn’t enough.

Guy/girl sleeps around because they’re weak and can’t control their lust. Or hurt by an ex and too weak to face the pain so they sleep around to cope. Or easily influenced by a degenerate culture. Or spiritually broken. Or all of the above.

The punchline is, the success is always what ruins you.

Nobody wants the struggles, everybody wants the victories. But the hardship is your best friend and the achievement your greatest enemy.

The difficulties forge you, keep you vigilant, keep you hungry, keep you humble.

The wins make you complacent, prideful, arrogant.

One leads to your demise, the other to building you.

And we all relish the wrong one.

You get to a point where you realize it’s all idol worship. Once you starting prioritizing your pursuit of God over any material pursuits, you experience a different type of bliss.

I’ve tasted it but not yet internalized it. Inevitably you get sucked back into prioritizing the material. Letting it sway your mood, dictate your experience. Leading you to forget about your divine encounters.

I’ve been praying that God shows me how to strive for things without being attached to the outcome. In due time.

Every man that tries to figure out the world entirely on his own ends up building a small, stupid god to replace the one he rejected. it never fails. he drops God, picks up science or stoicism or some guy on the internet who read enough books to pass for a prophet, and within six months he's talking about cold showers and circadian rhythms with the same exact tone a priest uses on sunday. the need to worship doesn't go anywhere just because you decided you're too smart for it. it just finds smaller things to attach to, and smaller gods make smaller people. nobody quits God. they trade down.
