It is very dangerous when a wound is so common in a culture that hardly anyone knows that there is a problem. There is general discontent with our way of life but almost no one knows specifically where to look for its origin.~Robert A. Johnson
@pmrodden It is also unforgivable to allow disturbed people to train as therapists, yet it happens - and I look at programs who do not require their students to be in their own therapy in particular.
An awful legacy of DSM culture is that a generation of psychs & therapists now believe its legit (in no time) to shoehorn complex humanity into a crude, pre-established psych-construct, & keep them their via confirmation bias. This isn’t ‘experience’ at work but ‘indoctrination’.
The profound danger of a DSM dx is that people form their identity around a label that was created by committee. It can stultify their thinking about how much they can grow and change. It can lead to passivity "That is just my (DSM dx)"

My🥞are now “evidence-based” & yours aren’t. I start telling everyone my🥞are superior
The accused hide their faces.
Gisèle Pélicot looks at each one of these rapists in turn. She does not lower her head.
Shame is changing sides.

My face when universities tell PhD students to come to a yoga class to reduce stress instead of paying them a reasonable stipend, creating secure jobs and career pathways, and protecting students from bullying, discrimination and harassment
