@_brinxinx@burungcamar328 Take the apostrophe out and break it into there is . There are two ways of reading there is. That is why there is the name There is not going to the party. Vs there is no going to the party.
@Idarabasimi I’m going to remove the mosquito and bedbug at most and keep the other two cause it feels like making 3 things go extinct at the same might have unintended consequences.
@SpawnPoiint I am pro physical because I know collectors like you have them, but personally I like digital downloads for convenience though my main gripe is digital copies can be updated and are vulnerable to being locked by companies
@CrysanTheCryun@JDunlap1974 It is more un-American to cheer uniformed soldiers laying hands on a civilian exercising their right to sit during the anthem, than it is to sit during the anthem. IMO. Had this been in the US… also how are we supposed to know this is a foreigner?
@KnowingBetterYT If you think they are doing it in order to gain some credibility using your brand you could cease and desist them for brand/image damages. Idk if there is a copyright or trademark thing you could do but at the least you could force them to use a disclaimer that it is not you.
@MyLordBebo While I am loathed to make any defense of Trump, this seems to be protocol I assume to mitigate risks associated with stopping at the top of the stairs without anyone else surrounding you, though president have done so to wave, it may be protocol depending on surrounding area.
@OneMohm@BasedMikeLee@SenSchumer Perhaps my original post was unclear. You are correct that children of noncitizens are citizens under the 14th amendment. You were incorrect that the excerpt was a rejected proposal. It comes from the debate on the addition of the citizenship clause which passed.
@preta_6 What do we mean by from these regions though? If I pick D do I get tomatoes still? or are we on a pre-Columbian exchange menu? Still I think D or G. are tied for me.
@PermMichae9696@EastEndJoe I mean to say, yours is the view attempting to make a proactive change to the way the courts have interpreted the law. You can disagree, but we obviously aren't getting anywhere in this conversation. Thanks for the opportunity for me to read through the Congressional Globe though
@PermMichae9696@EastEndJoe That is not the current or historical jurisprudential understanding of jurisdiction. It meant whether the government had, or purported to have, the ability to exercise its authority and enforce civil and criminal law. You can disagree with the reading but yours is a minority view
@OneMohm@BasedMikeLee@SenSchumer Correction, it was not rejected. This was on the debate of whether to add "subject to the jurisdiction thereof", but the circled text is about diplomats not all foreigners. 2 pages later they even clarify that children of temporary Chinese migrants would be citizens.
@PermMichae9696@EastEndJoe They did not need to be invited in, during the period we are discussing there were very few restrictions around immigration. The courts have long held that the 14th amendment covers a wide category of people including visitors. The history is against you here.
@PermMichae9696@EastEndJoe That is correct, it is referring to a class of people, immigrants. There is even discussion as to how Chinese Immigrants were expected to be temporary residents, but nevertheless Senator Conness concludes that their children would be citizens.
@PermMichae9696@EastEndJoe It would be contrary to that particular use of the comma. That is not how the comma is being used in this sentence. Your quote is from the congressional globe May 30, pg. 2890, Here is a snippet from pg. 2893, on the same subject. [congress-39-session-1-part-4.pdf]
@PermMichae9696@EastEndJoe I agree the commas are important. Commas are used often as interjections. I would argue that Foreigners, aliens, who belong... would be a list of objects foreigners and/or aliens, and a conditional, "who belong" Either word, foreigner or alien, must meet the condition.
