Well done to the Ms H's S1 class today making their #Zines - lots of focus and lots of great ideas. By the end of this project we will have over 300 new stories in the library that other pupils can borrow and learn from. #zinepower
Started Book Week Scotland with a *tiny* bang - set up for Tiny Zines at Bellshill Library.

As @frankcottrell_b says in the article, the solution is in our hands. Stop closing libraries. Retain school librarians and employ many more. Fund author visits to schools. Publishers, stop throwing cash at celebrities and focus instead on engaging young readers. We can fix this.
Sad results but there are things we can do. Make time at home, use libraries, give books as gifts, talk to professionals, make reading fun, teach reading skills early & well, surround young people with books they want to read. It's a fight worth winning https://t.co/p0pyMyD1R3
Nessie isn't just a creature of mystery and menace–she can also be the star of heartwarming family films! Some romance, some drama, and a professor so down on his luck he has to teach - gasp - freshmen! It's Loch Ness (1996)!

From @borywrites: Many Black educators agree that too often today’s best-selling novels offer a limited, even cramped, perspective.
Here are some alternatives to consider, recommended by English and literacy teacher @heymrsbond, librarian @Boss_Librarian, and others:
