Even though Garfield the cat was never physically all that healthy, he may have been super mentally healthy. He never pretended to be more energetic or ambitious than he was.

Garfield was rarely in a hurry to impress anybody.
Underneath all that sarcasm was a decent reminder of something that the culture is doing to us…
You don’t have to be busy or performative just because the world rewards people who seem constantly “on.”
There is something healthy about knowing yourself and confidently guarding the peace that comes from that.

It is wise to know that not every moment deserves you to leap into control over it.

Sometimes maturity looks like this:
Know what matters.
Say no to what doesn’t,
and save your strength for the right things.

To celebrate, go revisit episode 94, our Be Kind Rewind on “The ’Burbs”, one of our favorite Dern performances and one of the great “something is definitely wrong on this street” movies.

New episode. Masters of the Universe turned 39 and is still one of the more perplexing movies of the 80’s.

Cannon Films pitched it as Star Wars…but He-Man. It ended up being neither Star Wars nor He-Man. The studio ran out of money three days before filming wrapped. Frank Langella did Shakespeare. Dolph Lundgren learned sword fighting on the fly. Battle Cat doesn’t appear. Orko doesn’t appear. Prince Adam doesn’t appear. The sequel got salvaged for parts and became Cyborg with Jean-Claude Van Damme.

And somehow this movie still has buried in it one of the best Pastor’s Corner moments we’ve ever pulled out of a film.

Also: the debut of Hot Take Cody, a fresh Movie Game, and a bonus round on the highest-grossing toy movies ever made.
