I never even mentioned sex in my original comment, the most important and unique part of a relationship is the feeling of finding your significant other, and feel that the feeling is mutual. And it cannot be replaced by friends.

@KenAshcorp - As a man you don't really have a lot of physical contact. The maximum you will get from friends and family is a hug, but relationship gives much needed physical contant. As i said, not even freaky things, simple cuddles, human warmth. And it also has a massive emotional imapct.
