“That’s when they suspended the constitution. They said it would be temporary. There wasn’t any rioting in the streets. People stayed home, watching their televisions, looking for direction. There wasn’t even an enemy you could put a finger on.”
- Margaret Atwood, Handmaids Tale
Do you have/know children between 4 and 15? Do they enjoy books and writing stories? Then you could steer them in them direction of the annual DAUNT BOOKS CHILDREN'S SHORT STORY COMPETITION. Please share this! Entries close 31st January. Good luck!
@CadburyUK both my children received your Chocolate House Kit for Christmas but neither box includes a template to cut the chocolate bars. The house on the box is decorating with icing, which also isn’t included. Two disappointed kids.
Growing up, my Muslim family never celebrated Christmas. This year I am not going home, because pandemic, so my roommates are teaching me how to have my first proper Christmas.
I am approaching this with anthropological precision.
Here are a few observations.
@growing_daniel Mine moved to a different school without telling me. A teacher blew her cover by mentioning it in the dinner hall a couple of days before. I was heartbroken for weeks. She came back eventually but I’d moved to a new group so we didn’t hang out anymore.
‘What’s your vibe? What’s your scene?’ notably absent from your back catalogue on the latest podcast, @elisjames . I still sing this to my kids, who respond with utter bewilderment.
Perhaps this is because middle-aged women have had a lifetime of being on the receiving end of this bullshit and have no fucks left to give @GreggAWallace
@elisjames Manchester disappeared in seconds leaving only a handful of un-bookable seats because, inexplicably, you’re not allowed to leave a single seat in a row. Apparently people don’t go to gigs alone. 🙄
