BREAKING: Donald Trump gets rocked by a Friday bombshell leak in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal as sources reveal that Trump's name has been "redacted" in the Epstein files along with the names of "other prominent public figures."
And it gets so much worse...
Bloomberg's Jason Leopold reports that the FBI FOIA team has redacted Trump's name along with others from the Epstein documents "according to three people familiar with the matter who were not authorized to speak with the media."
The FOIA team in question was tasked with "conducting a final review of the voluminous cache" and applied the redactions before the MAGA-controlled Justice Department and FBI ludicrously decided that "no further disclosure" of the files would be needed.
The incredibly flimsy rationale for the redactions is that Trump was a private citizen when the sprawling investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his illegal operations was conducted and so should be shielded. The assertion is ludicrous at face value now that Trump is president. You sacrifice your privacy when you enter the White House. If he was involved in underaged sex trafficking, the American people have a right to know.
It was revealed in March that FBI Director Kash Patel had directed FBI special agents to join the bureau's FOIA team to review every document in the Epstein files.
"That included a mountain of material accumulated by the FBI over nearly two decades, including grand jury testimony, prosecutorsโ case files, as well as tens of thousands of pages of the bureauโs own investigative files on Epstein," writes Leopold. "It was a herculean task that involved as many as 1,000 FBI agents and other personnel pulling all-nighters while poring through more than 100,000 documents, according to a July letter from Senator Dick Durbin to Bondi."
The order from Patel led to pushback from officials at the FBI's Record/Information Dissemination Section which works on FOIA requests. Michael Seidel, the section chief of RIDS, was particularly outspoken in his opposition to the process. He was eventually told that he could retire or be fired. He ultimately retired, ending a fourteen year career.
Leopold further reports that the review resulted in FBI personnel identifying "numerous references to Trump in the documents" as well as mention of "dozens of other high-profile public figures." FOIA officers then slapped the redactions in place. Trump's name and the names of others were "blacked out" because of the aforementioned private citizen privacy rules. One of the exemptions they used to apply the redactions is sometimes used to protect people from "injury and embarrassment."
In his report, Leopold drops one particularly stunning lineโ
"Hereโs the bottom line: The FBI's behind-the-scenes decision-making suggests that the chances of aliens resurrecting JFK are greater than Trumpโs name ever being unredacted from the Epstein files," he writes.
He concludes by pointing out that Trump could simply sign a privacy waiver, which would repeal the redactions and allow the files with his name to be released in full. Of course. given his increasingly suspicious and evasive behavior, that seems highly unlikely.
Please retweet and โค๏ธ to demand the full release of the Epstein files!
