i think it reflects how emotionally distant Helaena had become from Alicent after everything she’d lost, comfort may not have been something she believed her mother could give anymore.
pulling away didn’t necessarily feel like anger—it felt more like resignation,as if she’d accepted that some pain couldn’t be fixed by anyone or maybe i’m reading too much into it.
