Happy New Year! Here’s a little thread of the 10 best dishes I’ve had in 2023… in Kolkata, Mumbai, Goa… and one from Shantiniketan. In no particular order. Not a list for vegetarians or folks with sweet tooth.

1. Chimney Soup, Flavours of China, Kolkata
Ever since How Hua shut down, the Chimney Soup story in Kolkata has been dismal. Eau Chew and Nu Wan Li do decent versions but they fall short. But earlier this year, I dived into this magic cauldron at the famous Park Street restaurant and man, that broth! Bringing out the flavours of all that meat and vegetables. Have the large one… make it your starter, main course and dessert. (1/10)
