@bigalbert_ Any day now… The price of beef product, at the grocery store, will push the consumer down the protein ladder. We believe the recent sky rocket in cattle prices (both live cattle & feeder cattle) will now turn lower and continue to fall, well into the beginning of next year.

Mexican market update... The great ham puke of '24 looks to be upon us. 🤓 Heard over the weekend, there is pullback from MEX buyers/distributors due to price. it was bound to happen. Also hear major US plants offering extra hams avail for August. 👀

@mrktvolatility @LorenDempster Brazil is expanding there pork production for sure... Actually in all AG sectors. We have data and insight there as well. But to answer the question, when we import from Brazil, its frozen product, which changes everything versus fresh product trucked down from USA or CAD.

Also keep VERY close attention to the USD/MXN trade... Leading indicator and strong correlation there. Stronger USD not the best for comms/exports. Mexican congress take office Sept 15 and CS (Claudia Sheinbaum) starts Oct 1. More of the same (AMLO) with her.

@LorenDempster We bring hams, picnics, shoulders and some bellies (normally #2's) down here into Mexico. Seen an uptick in substitute pork items, the last couple of weeks, to try and avoid these high ham prices.

Currency swaps are not bullish either. The USD is dominating the BRL, MXP and the CNY.  The BRL is especially concerning as it looks to be breaking out toward 6:1. That has a pretty good correlation with ag prices. #hogs #USD #ag #BRL #MXN

Last weeks USDA Feeder Pig report showing a big jump in wean pig prices from $23.86 the week prior to $28.18. Breakevens still hovering around the mid $20s using the FEB Hog futures. Interesting to see a July wean pig value jump??? 🤔
