@krsepko@SenTinaSmith@SenateDems From Trump supporters. The same president who gassed peaceful protesters and used DHS like a private police force. HE knew, he created the chaos with lies, he liked it.
@WoodyLove8@SenTinaSmith@SenateDems Um, Republicans voted that they did not have jurisdiction over Trump in a court of impeachment for acts committed as president. 😂 That's not the rule of law. Literally voted that x-POtuS was above the law. Again. That's a cult not a republic.
Mitch McConnell lighting up Trump from the Senate floor right now and saying he’s guilty as charged immediately after acquitting him is deeply infuriating.
If this @nytimes story is right, and the House dropped the witness demand because the Republicans in Senate threatened to block all nominees and legislation, that just underscores how scared Republicans have been of Americans learning the truth. Outrageous behavior.
@anneapplebaum@MaxBoot Sorry but, it was shrewd if one has no principle and wants to make it an entirely Dem controlled affair. A coward is one thing McConnell is not. He faces every day with full awareness of his own hypocrisy and facilitation of the erosions to our republic for partisan politics.
@AshaRangappa_ 😂 x-POtuS lawyer is defending the attempted insurrection right now by suggesting they were justified by the results of a fraudelent election. Literally offering up the very lies x-POtuS used all along to insight his useful idiots. It won't matter to Republicans but, not great.
@davidfrum And, they were warned that arson was likely to occur, so where were the firefighters? Last I heard federal property was the domain of DHS 'cause law and order.
@RyanMar64487414@JeezumCrow2 @EasyMode243 @SenateDems The "trickery" was that McConnell knew a guy like you would come along to defend this or that Republican while ignoring the fact that he had created the very scenario you're using to build a bogus case for the unconstitutional nature of an impeachment solely controlled by Dems.
@rgoodlaw@AshaRangappa_@maddow Would the jury convict, though? x-POtuS could always use the argument that he was president at the time, you know... doing what presidents do. I know, it's funny. But, that's the "defense", right?
As people lay dead and injured, our Capitol desecrated, Trump tweeted at 6:01 pm:
“These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away...”
Trump was knowing, willful, and remorseless.
@SenateDems The GOP simply can't ever hold themselves to the very low bar they've created. And so it goes, decade upon decade, worse because their voters are loyal to an idea of a party much more so than of genuine principle or fact.
