I haven’t seen the movie “Disclosure Day” but it seems to be the most “Boomer” film conceivable, at least for 2026.
The film seems to ask:
“What if aliens were real and covered up by our government/experts?”
“Can you imagine how disruptive this revelation would be to our social order?”
“Would you ever trust government/experts ever again? Scandal!”
“Wouldn’t aliens totally upset our comfortable boring hum-drum middle class American lives?”
Sure Mr. Spielberg, but there are some problems with your narrative’s impact.
First, almost no one under 50 lives a hum-drum comfortable middle class life. That’s over, mainly because your class blew it up. Remember?
Second, our social order is already maximally disrupted by war, economic depression, mass-migration, A.I., super viruses, trust collapse, and political instability. So, please tell me, how are the aliens standing at the back of this train going to F*CK us even harder? Sure, they might if they go full “Independence Day”. But until E.T. builds a slum in my hometown and starts decapitating people, minimally, then he is NOT making much of an impact.
Third, in 2026, I can’t be scandalized by government / expert lies. They’ve already lied about things that totally destroyed our ordinary existences, and those lies involved denying things right in front of my eyes, way more concrete than hypothetical flying saucers with little green men in them.
Furthermore, it is also impossible to forget that when we all started noticing these lies, it was people like Spielberg who showed up to accuse us of being “conspiracy theorists”. So great, now we have to indulge Steven’s pet conspiracy theory movie because he thinks it will “blow the mind” of his political enemies in the same way that pointing out the “great Replacement” blew his. The only take away I could possible take from this is that I should believe the government / experts only when Hollywood tells me I should.
All in all, “Disclosure Day” has a problem. It’s not just that I have to indulge a fantasy to enjoy the film (all movies require this). The problem is I have to indulge a fantasy to even be able to indulge this fantasy. In order to be “shocked” by “disclosure”, I have to pretend that I live in the 90s, and am otherwise comfortable, upwardly mobile, with a culture that belongs to me and a government that I trust.
These conditions might pertain to Spielberg and his friends, but for me they are just a fantasy. And I can’t enjoy a fantasy inside another man’s fantasy.

Look at Japan.
Women walk home alone at midnight.
Children ride trains alone to school.
Lost wallets return with the cash inside.
This is normal in Japan.
This was normal everywhere, once.
Japan did not change.
The world changed.
Defend what your ancestors built.🇯🇵
