@CataztropheTCG the listing literally says the cert was "checked against the grader's database" like that settles it. psa's own cert page says a match doesn't prove the slab is real
Two PSA 10 Expedition Dragonites. One cert number. One of them just sold for $288K.
Either someone forged a $288K slab, or PSA printed the same number twice. Not sure which one is worse.
We say we're pricing the card. Half the time we're pricing the label.
Demand, scarcity and liquidity all matter when evaluating a card.
We think collectors should also be able to trade that view without buying or selling the physical copy.
That’s what we’re building at Portalbox: a market to go long or short on card prices.
the card market looks like the stock market… just more fun and more complicated.
every pokémon has dozens of cards, across sets, years and artists.
i see two ways to build a thesis: by pokémon, or by set. the best opportunities live where the two meet.
so i stopped picking pokémon cards and started picking keywords.
👇
think seo: the pokémon is the keyword with the demand, the set is the modifier that makes it rare.
charizard × skyridge. pikachu × the mario promo. both sit in the top 10 of something.
cards trade like stocks with no earnings behind them, so three rules do the job fundamentals do elsewhere:
• traceable scarcity.
• desirability: charizard and pikachu did ~$276m in sales in 2026 through september.
• liquidity: how fast a fair bid shows up when you want out.

@LugiaConsulting Picking the right card is one thing. Finding a buyer when you want out is another. That gap is what got us interested in card perps: a way to trade the price without having to trade the physical card.
Collector rule #1: You will never sell the card.
Collector rule #2: You will check its price every single day.
Collector rule #3: You will lie about rule #1.
@CompsAPI@beforethepop so the real moonbreon median is lower than the sold page says and everyone's been grading their bags on vibes lol. do you publish the actual accepted price anywhere?
