Feeling stigmatized makes it difficult to feel included and appreciated in society.
Feeling stigmatized can reduce the willingness of individuals to reach out for support.
Stigmatizing views leads others to feel pity, fear, anger, and a desire to distance themselves from PWUD.
According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, hospitals in and around Sydney, N.S., have recorded the highest death rate in the country. Stats from 2019-2020 indicate that Nearly 50 percent more deaths occurred than expected.
Shout out to @momsstoptheharm for all the fantastic work they do!
Moms Stop The Harm calls for an end to the failed war on drugs through evidence-based prevention, treatment, and policy change. They support a harm reduction approach that is compassionate and non-discriminatory.
By documenting current advocacy services, we will begin to provide evidence that indicates PWUDs are not accessing health services at the capacity that they should be due to stigma and discrimination. This contributes to more deaths, health care $ and unnecessary hospital visits!
@CraigConoscenti@megynkelly What credentials do you have to judge? People have had direct personal reactions to vaccines and have lost loved ones to them and you discount them because they are not doctors or scientists?
@RFTc_psych @jordanbpeterson@JustinTrudeau@gofundme they should have done that from the get-go! they are only doing it now because they dont want to pay the charges from the banks!
