How did the container come round to revolutionise the shipping industry? In the upcoming magazine edition, our history section looks at exactly that - including the prettiest port images of the 1970s and 80s.
One of our more fun sections in the magazine is our Quick 10 rapid question round. In the next edition, you can read about @BusanPort_PA Lee Eung-hyuk's favourite app, what he takes on a deserted island, and to which time period he'd travel.
Dr Phanthian Zuesongdham spoke to @C_W_Bartlett about her work @PortofHamburg and how she thinks about her leading the @WPSP_IAPH working group on automation
Are you after a good read? @InesNastali can recommend Cabin Fever - telling the tale of holiday makers trapped on the Zaandam cruise ship amid the beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic
Following the devastating earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria that also hit the port of Iskenderun, operator Limak Port said the port will reopen within 3 months. A fire damaged 1,700 containers. The port is currently being used for civil evacuations and aid material deliveries.

Spent the morning at the @shippingics — thank you so much for your hospitality!! — to get the cover shot for @PortsHarbors March/April. The lovely and smart Elpi Petraki will be on the cover. She and @PJHVerhoeven talked digitalisation and how it affects crew and future talent
One of the notes @PJHVerhoeven took away from reading and reviewing The Port of Los Angeles history book by @GeraldineKnatz was that despite their proximity, the @PortofLA and @portoflongbeach have not merged to this day. Something the book discusses a lot.
The CEO of @VinFastofficial talked to us about building a supply chain in the west and where ports fit into that endeavour. Read it all in the Jan/Feb edition of Ports & Harbors
Port worker strikes have kept operations in ports in the UK, Germany, and the US at bay this year. With maritime facing a skills shortage, alienating its workforce is a dangerous path to go on. The Jan/Feb edition looks at this closer
In the first edition of 2023, @paddyjorodgers writes about the balance between the master and the medium - the market and the ocean. His full view in the January/February edition
Ship agent @Inchcape_SS wants to collaborate with ports on just-in-time, or right-time of arrival as one mean to reduce emissions in ports. Chief commercial officer Christopher Crookall spoke to us about this and other efforts for the Nov/Dec edition.
We love to get to know the many people who work in ports. For the Nov/Dec edition, @PortofSeattle's managing director Stephanie Jones Stebbins shared how she kicks off her busy day in the port.
