@JonHeyman I don’t think Cashman is awful, but the reality is we’ve been stagnant for 15 years. It’s not that he’s bad. I just think we need new blood and a new vision to try. It’s like running on a treadmill. You exercised, but once you get off, you’re still where you were.
@rationalyankee I don’t think it’s as different as you say. It just has had a salary cap so that league is used to it. In the NBA, the union and the owners just have a much, much better relationship. In baseball, both sides are so far apart and are unwilling to compromise. It’s really a shame
@rationalyankee It would make free agency more fun. This lagging during free agency makes baseball the most boring of the major sports. NBA has this down right. July 1st, it’s a frenzy. It’s exciting. MLB has this with the trade deadline. I get why players wouldn’t like it. I would as a fan.
@rationalyankee I think come the end of the season, when we likely get bounced in the wild card or division series, some large changes need to be made. Maybe it won’t happen bc of the lockout, but I think some new blood needs to come in. And I’m not even talking about Boone.
@rationalyankee I just looked at our games since July first. In only 10 out of the last 35 games, we’ve score 3 or more runs through six innings (28.5%). And many of those wins were close games in general. That’s just not gonna cut it in the playoffs. We’ve had some late game comebacks though
@rationalyankee Agreed. I just thought he wouldn’t be able to duplicate the value he had which is why I was against the QO. It was a gamble either way.
@BobbyMilone29 While the payroll for the players is $300M, that doesn’t include stadium overhead, employee salaries, repairs and upgrades to the stadium, food costs, etc. I’m not saying the Yankees aren’t making money, but those numbers only tell a fraction of the overall profit story.
@BrendanKutyNJ It’s not hyperbole to say this is one of the worst trade deadlines in recent memory. We got two platoon bats in surplus positions without securing a C, MRP, 3B or SS. An abject failure considering the needs the team has.
@rationalyankee They shouldn’t do something bc a rival does. But they should do something bc there’s major needs that aren’t filled. Cash isn’t in a position of strength so he’ll need to overpay and he should. Judge/Cole are end of prime. No baseball in 2027 probably. If not now, when?
@BronxBomberBall Teams know the Yanks are desperate for upgrades so Cash isn’t in a position of strength in negotiations. He has to overpay for what we need. But he won’t because of ego. News flash. Judge/Cole are almost out of their prime. Make the move now with no baseball likely next year.
@FungoMLB And one of the worst defenders clogging up a DH spot we’ll need for Judge. I don’t hate the offense. Just don’t love the overall fit with what else is available. We’re going to have to take a loss on most trades here. We have no choice.
