Incredible review by @creditkeeda on Hotel Irada -Marriott's first ever Design Hotels property in India.
A former Vijay Mallya-owned estate converted into a beautiful hotel that's perfect for a staycation! β¨οΈ
I spent 2 nights at Hotel Irada, Marriott's first Design Hotels property in India.
Beautiful rooms. Award-winning restaurant. βΉ30,000+ a night.
Some things exceeded my expectations. Others fell well short. Read on. π§΅
Xβs new Original Content Revenue Program could be exactly what our timelines needed. π
Less ragebait. Less clickbait. Fewer recycled posts engineered to game the algorithm.
A much-needed timeline cleanse π
Iβve always preferred Akasa Air over IndiGo β fewer delays, a better overall experience, and now another reason to choose them: a new loyalty programme. βοΈ
Akasa is clearly upping the ante.
IndiGo, it might be time to give BluChip a serious revamp. Because right now, it feelsβ¦ very average. π¬
π¨βοΈ BIG: Akasa Air finally launches its Loyalty Program -- Akasa Elevate!
4 years after launch, Akasa now has a full-fledged frequent flyer program with elite status, points, ancillary rewards & retro claims. π₯
Here's everything you need to know π
π― Earn Elevate Points
---
Points are earned on:
πΈ Flight bookings
πΈ Seats
πΈ Meals
πΈ Extra baggage
πΈ Other eligible ancillary purchases
π‘ Book directly on Akasa's website/app and earn an additional 4 points per βΉ100 on eligible bookings.
π Elite Tiers
---
π₯ Bronze
β’ Complimentary on joining
β’ Earn 8 points / βΉ100
π₯ Silver

---

Platinum:
πΉ Complimentary seat selection
πΉ Complimentary Akasa Priority
πΉ Complimentary GetEarly
πΉ Waived change & cancellation fees
πΉ Additional baggage
πΉ 50% off Extra Legroom seats
π Retro Claim
---
A nice launch bonus π
Members can claim Elevate Points retrospectively for eligible Akasa flights taken from 1 April 2026, even before the loyalty program officially launched.
π First Impressions
---
πΈ Dual qualification (Flights or Spend) is a welcome move.
πΈ Rewards on ancillary purchases mean almost every rupee spent counts.
πΈ Direct booking bonus should encourage customers to skip OTAs.
The biggest question now is:
π€ How valuable will Elevate Points be for flight redemptions and what partner ecosystem will Akasa build over time?
If Akasa gets redemption pricing and partnerships right, Akasa Elevate could become a serious challenger to Air India's Maharaja Club.

One of my clients who recently visited Switzerland, received a CHF 120 speeding fine after driving at 118 km/h in a 100 km/h zone - and that was after the Swiss safety margin was deducted. π¨π
These are things we need to be cautious about when renting a car abroad. Don't simply follow the flow of traffic or assume a few km/h over the limit is harmless.
Speed limits, parking restrictions and even seemingly minor violations can work very differently.
Spending 10 minutes to understand the local driving rules before you pick up the keys is always better than spending hundreds of dollars on traffic violations.
Careful guys! This is from an Indian group. Traffic rules in some countries are serious.
This is one thing where I recommend all the tourists to be extra careful but the charges are crazy!
Absolutely! Mauritius is a destination that is best explored self-driven ππ²πΊ
It not only gives you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace, but also allows you to make spontaneous stops, discover hidden gems, and spend more time at places you actually enjoy.
No fixed itineraries, no waiting around, no watching the clock, just the flexibility to experience Mauritius the way it's supposed to π΄
Mauritius was the first country I visited outside India, back in 2011. π²πΊ
While I agree with all the points mentioned by @TravelBluez in the post below, one point deserves even more emphasis:
π If you are on SIC trips (shared coaches), you are at a disadvantage. If possible, opt for private tours or a self-drive car instead.
Canβt agree more with this. During our trip, we wasted hours visiting places like a glass factory, wooden toy factory, diamond shop, and other tourist-shopping stops that we had no real interest in. On top of that, we spent a lot of time simply waiting for fellow travellers, even though we were always on time and then sitting in the coach. π
The biggest disappointment was seeing so many beautiful spots on the way where we would have loved to stop and spend some time, but couldnβt because the shared coach had a fixed itinerary. And at every attraction, you are given a fixed time slot, so instead of enjoying the place, you end up keeping one eye on your watch. β°
Your Mauritius trip will be far more rewarding if you choose private tours or rent a self-drive car. Youβll have the flexibility to explore at your own pace, stop wherever you like, skip places that donβt interest you, and truly enjoy the island. ππ΄

One of my favourite hotel redemptions so far, and ironically, Iβm not even a big hotel personπ
During a trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania last year, I decided to spoil ourselves a little and dip into the Bonvoy points stash.
I initially booked 5 nights at Le Mersenne Zanzibar, Autograph Collection for ~130k Bonvoy points + USD 50 in taxes/fees (5th night free on points).
Over the following months, I kept checking the redemption rate for the same dates. Eventually, I rebooked the exact same stay for just 99k points + the same USD 50.
A saving of over 30,000 Bonvoy points for a few minutes of effort πͺ
Then came the pleasant surprise at check-in.
Marriott Platinum status got us upgraded from our base room to a villa with a private pool overlooking the ocean, along with complimentary breakfast.
What a stay. Beautiful property, incredible service, and easily one of my favourite redemptions so far.
Still not a luxury hotel guy though. Iβm usually quite happy with Airbnbs, hostels and boutique hotels. But every now and then, itβs nice to spoil yourself a littleπ
Which hotel redemption made you feel like you got exceptional value for your points? π¨

@jassneetsingha The tax-free returns are not enough to convince me either. Limited flexibility when withdrawing the corpus and the 21-year maturity is a deal breaker.
@think_in_points I was there this Summer. The Central Station is one of Europeβs most spectacular railway stations. You could almost forget youβre there to catch a train.
