One of my patients had a terrible headache last night. I threw every med she had at it and nothing. I looped in the Dr. and she ordered something else. After giving her this med, my pt. whispered “You are so good at your job. Thank you.” 1/3

I was so touched. She had a lot going on and was very anxious, but she realized I was doing everything I could for her and wanted me to know she was thankful. I had so many patients and felt like I wasn’t able to be as present as I wanted to be for any of them. 2/3

@nurse_charming Night shift; 7-9 nurses. Postpartum unit so we take couplets (mom & baby). Start with three couplets and gain another as they deliver. Max 8 patients. Also take care of GYN patients post surgery. Usually able to take lunch no problem.

TFW you give report about a four-hour-old infant who is struggling on the well baby unit but the nurse says the baby is still transitioning and isn't worried. 🤯 That's not how this works. You aren't a doctor. Charge nurse "she said what?!" 🤦🏼‍♀️

@j_thePA It felt like it was trying to escape through the top of my uterus for a while. That has mostly subsided but it will occasionally hit me out of the blue. But it works great without my having to think about it so 👍🏻👍🏻

@sidanne90 Sign language is like any other language. You have to be certified to translate for medical purposes. Our hospital has a video translator service for sign language until we can get an in person translator (if the patient wants one). 👍🏻 for learning though. 🙂

@WeNurses It's all about the set up for me. I take Benadryl and sleep as long as I can the day before. No caffeine after 1 am and I drink lots of cold water during the shift to stay awake/hydrated.

@nursekelsey I learned the fast walk from my short mother who learned to keep up with my super tall dad. My whole family walks that way. My husband has to ask me to go at my "vacation pace" whenever we go grocery shopping together. 😂
