Cannot understand for the life of me why @WillieMullinsNH is insisting on this champion hurdle plan with Lossiemouth. Plans have to be adaptable. It became clear when Lossiemouth breezed past Teahupoo in the Hattons Grace and then laboured in the @Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle that her running style and the way she jumps is not suited to fast 2m hurdling.

She fell jumping at speed in the Irish Champion Hurdle and couldn’t keep up at Kempton. Her best form is over 2m4f and if anything she would be a better chance of winning the stayers than the @unibet Champion Hurdle. Last year in the @CloseBrothers mares she was doing her best work late on heavy ground up the hill over 2m4f.

Honestly, whose idea was it to continue with this Champion Hurdle dream with her? From where we can see it on good to soft ground by 4pm next Tuesday she may well beat Brighterdaysahead because let’s be honest her form is pretty limited if you draw a line through the State Man performance at Christmas. It would make a tiny bit of sense on heavy ground but still not really as CH will still run.

If the Ricci team are after a championship race as opposed to the Mares’ Hurdle then surely the correct avenue is to go up in trip and run in the @paddypower Stayers??? Not too late to supplement is it? 🤣🤣

Would be interesting to see what Paul Townend says about this if this option was put in front of him.

All this talk about her pedigree is valid to a certain extent, but i feel they are letting that cloud their judgement and if they take a step back and do what’s best for the horse’s chances of winning they would not run in the Champion Hurdle and would just say “OK that dream is dead, but let’s recalibrate to another Grade 1/Championship race?

They say wouldn’t it be sporting to run against Constitution Hill and BDA, but is it depriving the sport of a true champion mare? She can be a champion of course, but not over 2 miles given who currently holds away in the division.
