120,640 people left Canada last year, the highest number since records began in 1952
We are in a generational brain drain crisis.
The math doesn’t math for a lot of our top talent to stay here and we need to change that. Fast.
@ChrisKFilms@Cdnrumpole Healthcare has declined everywhere. This isn't exclusive to Alberta. You should probably look at the feds importing a metric fuckton of people if you want someone to be mad at over the shitty healthcare.
Lots of polls are wrong.
U.S. is taking in a lot of Canadians, with immigration numbers up 142%.
Build Canada group says brain drain is a real issue, but it has some 'bold policy choices' that it says could help https://t.co/AD73HgxoAo
If you see Mark Carney wanting to sell off our airports, choosing China over the US, and trying to join the EU, and think that protects our sovereignty, you are a fool.
If you think this is fighting Trump, you're a moron.
If you think this is winning, you are retarded.
Not comparing wages. Canadian cost of living and taxes are very high (many pay 30% of their pay check just to taxes) and despite decent wages many people struggle to afford Canada.
But that's irrelevant to the point - what I'm talking about here is currency conversion and comparing retail commodity prices.
If you cut feelings out of it and look at it from an economic standpoint that really isn't the case.
NDP ran 4 years of multibillion dollar deficits that are greater than what the UCP spent in the first four years the party was in power (in power 7 years now). Tax rates are lower to attract business/create jobs under the UCP (8% down from 10-12% under the NDP). Alberta saw massive layoffs under the NDP, UCP created more jobs than they've lost - they even created a ton of public sector jobs, which I am not a fan of, but you should like that.
I supported Mark Carney. I wanted him to succeed because I wanted Canada to succeed. But my support was never without limitations.
There comes a point when you have to ask yourself am I defending a government because it’s delivering, or because I don’t want to admit I put my faith in the wrong place?
I’m a tradesman, a father and a Canadian. I want a country where working hard gets your family ahead. Where young Canadians have a realistic chance of owning a home. Where we train our own people, protect fair wages and match immigration to the homes, services and opportunities we can actually provide.
Those should be basic expectations of any government.
Supporting Canada does not require supporting Mark Carney. Questioning his decisions does not mean abandoning the country. Holding a prime minister accountable is part of defending it.
And the Conservatives have a responsibility here too. Give people something concrete to come back to: credible plans, respect for working people and a clear commitment to making life better for the people already here.
There should be a welcome for anyone willing to reconsider their support. No humiliation. No “we told you so.” Just an honest recognition that the country matters more than saving face.
I changed my mind because my priorities haven’t changed.
My family. My fellow workers. My country.
Every party has to earn our support. None of them owns it. Canada needs real change. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

@PotatoRustler@juliedabrusin We got a heat pump as it was the same price as AC, furnace kicks on at -3 ish but the cooling works as well as AC. See no reduction in natural gas use. Just sharing my experience.
@nativegold4u@juliedabrusin Standard air-source heat pumps, regardless of manufacturer are unreliable at around-5 temperature. Cold climate are capable of handling around -20°c. I couldn't tell you a reliable manufacturer though. Just listed product specs.
A beautiful act of kindness from our friends and neighbors the United States.
To our friends in America. Thank you for standing by our injured soldiers in their time of need.
United we are always greater 🇨🇦♥️🇺🇸
