The Poverty Challenge is a one day simulation designed to teach participants about the realities of urban poverty in Canada. Participants learn that poverty itself is a full time job.
The Poverty Challenge is not for profit program and the team has created free toolkits.

The Poverty Challenge Working Group was fortunate to receive funding last year from the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area and @spckin. We used this funding to:
- update all our event materials
- update the DIY toolkits
- study wraparound models of service
The Poverty Challenge has been quiet on social media this year. Due to Covid 19, we have not been able to run events recently and have instead focused on developing and updating resources.

After consulting with 38 frontline service workers from 14 Kingston-based agencies, we have seen a strong interest in having a community-based wraparound service. Frontline workers indicated that there was a strong need for further coordinated services.
Wraparound services use a holistic approach to break down barriers and create opportunities for better, lasting outcomes. 92% of frontline workers indicated in our survey that their clients would benefit from intensive wraparound services.
For 10 yrs, @PovertyChalleng has delivered a positive experiential learning event 2 #combat stigma & raise #empathy 4 those living in poverty. During this time, we asked ourselves "what next?" This year, we've expanded 2 research #povertyreduction wraparound models 4 #ygk
