So excited for the Day of Action today! Volunteers across the city will be giving back (safely)! We need to be #unitedbycompassion, now more than ever!
We have our masks on and are ready for the United Way Day of Action! Small volunteer groups will be supporting front-line charities across HRM who provide essential services to our community. #UnitedByCompassion
.@TheElliotPage has given us fantastic characters on-screen, and has been an outspoken advocate for all LGBTQ people. Elliot will now be an inspiration to countless trans and non-binary people. We celebrate him. All trans people deserve to be accepted. https://t.co/Ba7HOBgU5G
How could law enforcement be unaware of a fire that took four hours to put out where arson is suspected? This abdication—in a moment where the Premier says we need to rethink public safety—is shameful. We are all treaty people. #nspoli#AllEyesOnMikmaki
.@ReginaKing wins the #Emmy for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for #WatchmenHBO. See all of the winners so far, here https://t.co/HK6zy69NBT
Nominations are now open for the Invisible Champion Awards (previously the Bhayana Awards)! Twenty $1000 awards will be given to individuals AND non-profit organizations from across Nova Scotia. Read and share our blog post - get your nominations in! 🏆

Unfortunately, it continues to take video to remind folks that this type of racism still exists
Living wage in Halifax is now $21.80. Anecdotally, people say that employers pay them less for living in HFX because it’s allegedly “cheaper” than elsewhere. Clearly, that’s not true. Minimum wage has to go up at the very least.
The annual swim for United Way is one of the most exciting events of the year! But this year’s swim will look different. Instead of the Halifax harbour, participants will swim at 6 different locations across the province in support of United Way! 🏊♀️ 🏊♂️

If you look at a map of Toronto, you’ll see Little Italy, Chinatown, Little Portugal, Koreatown and Little Malta. But you won’t see the words Little Jamaica, even though this section of Eglinton West has been colloquially known by that name since at least the 1960s
