People don’t seem to understand what the DNC does. So here is a DNC 101:

It has 4 critical roles: infrastructure for the nominee in 2028, nominating process, debates and convention.

Specifically:
- The DNC must build the critical infrastructure for the nominee in battleground and expansion states. This requires fundraising and smart investments in key state parties.
- Ensuring there is critical data infrastructure for the nominee.
- Organizing and negotiating a fair debate process that protects our candidates & ensures it’s a debate on ideas and not on culture wars.
- Deciding the early state calendar that puts us in a best position to win in 2028.
- Organizing the 2028 convention and build an infrastructure to do that.
- It starts opposition research on potential Republican 2028ers.
- and yes, the chair should be spending 90% of their time fundraising and should hire people to run the rest.

The DNC is not in charge of the midterms. It is not in charge of messaging for all of our candidates. It doesn’t pick or recruit candidates. It’s not a building full of consultants.

The DNC is not sexy, but it is critical to 2028, which is the hard part of the job.
