Holy crap the foraging is good this year. Got enough chokecherries for a whole batch of jelly from one bush in my neighbor’s driveway. Tons of sumac berries and big rose hips too. And check out these wild peaches in Belleview Park! Delicious!
@AmericanGwyn Blood Meridian: ends with the attempt to impose borders on the wilderness/wasteland. No Country: same place, ~140 years later, as those borders dissolve and become irrelevant again, the land and mankind reverting to their natural state of chaos and violence
@AmericanGwyn Yeah, interesting. NCFOM: the nation-state border of Texas/Mexico transgressed by the market state of drug trafficking, where the *real* power and control come from.
The dawn of Septober in Colorado puts me in desperate need of a prairie road trip. I wanna eat biscuits and gravy from a gas station. I wanna stay in a motel that still advertises color TV. I wanna visit a museum with a room full of old sewing machines. It is time
@RubinoJC Nah man, Panhandle, Sand Hills, Niobrara Valley, Oregon Trail, Valentino's Pizza, thunderstorms, you just gotta love Nebraska right and she'll love you back
@AmericanGwyn This would also answer why the Man in the Office hired Wells -- after killing the "mind ridin' bitch?" guys in the desert, it was clear Chigurh had gone rogue and had to be stopped by someone more trustworthy and predictable like Wells.
@AmericanGwyn I've wondered this for a long time. Maybe he knew the money he was chasing was far more than the fee he was promised, and decided from the start to double-cross everyone and simply keep the satchel for himself. Coldly pragmatic.
The view from the tower at Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, in the heart of the former Lowry Air Force Base. I remember when it was all old runways out here.
