At the OFL, we know that a good, unionized job is the best way to provide a safe and stable life for Ontarians. We believe that true reconciliation must go beyond words and acknowledgements and move to action. This must involve work to support the education of Indigenous youth.
To this end, the OFL First Nations, Métis, Inuit Circle / Union Savings Indigenous Bursary has been established to support Indigenous students to pursue post-secondary education, as a pathway to meaningful work, careers, and activism in the labour movement.

To be clear the Mango Menace was looking for an excuse.
However Ford wasted our money giving him that excuse.
Now they hide. This is been the pattern for 8 years.
The people of Ontario deserve better than theatrics.
The OFL joins our affiliated education unions, educators, parents, students, and communities across Ontario in echoing their call to defend our schools from this egregious political overreach. Stronger schools start with stronger local voices.
The Ford government’s Bill 33, the Supporting Children and Students Act, does nothing to support students and everything to consolidate power in the hands of the Minister of Education.

🚨BREAKING: The OFL is calling for a transparent, stable, and formalized funding stream for union-led training centres, one that recognizes their value to both workers and the province.
Despite being one of the wealthiest provinces in Canada, Ontario continues to fall short on fair and consistent funding across all pathways to work: universities, colleges, and skilled trades alike.

🚨BREAKING: Workers pay the price as Ford’s Conservatives slash employment law enforcement
Full Release: https://t.co/7jV4DowqwQ
While Doug Ford extends his summer with ice cream bar press conferences instead of sitting in the legislature, workers are paying the price with gutted court enforcement of their basic employment rights, according to data from the Ontario Court of Justice.

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation also known as “Orange Shirt Day”. On this day, we honour the Indigenous children who never came home, the survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities forever changed by colonial violence.
We call on workers and unions to continue the important solidarity work: defending land and water, supporting Indigenous workers, amplifying Indigenous voices in our unions, supporting Indigenous leadership, and demanding justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirt people.
The Ontario Federation of Labour recommits to that solidarity, today and every day.

"The OFL joins @ontarionurses in calling on Doug Ford and the Victorian Order of Nurses to commit to wage parity with hospital nurses, and to fair pensions and benefits to retain and recruit staff.
If healthcare is truly this province’s top priority, as Ontarians say it is, then the bargaining table must deliver fairness for VON nurses." - OFL Pres @waltonmom
Today, OFL President @waltonmom joined @ontarionurses President @erinariss, ONA bargaining team chair for VON Lorna Thompson, RN, and MPP @Wayne_Gates to demand fair pay for nurses and better funding for home care.
"Home care RNs are the lowest-paid nurses in the province, despite facing among the worst working conditions." - ONA Provincial Pres Erin Ariss

"Violence in classrooms, unsafe buildings, and chronic underfunding can’t be solved by silencing communities — they require real, long-term investment in public education that puts students first, from kindergarten to post-secondary."

🚨 URGENT CALL TO ALL WORKERS: DEFEND AIR CANADA CUPE COMPONENT WORKERS’ RIGHT TO STRIKE 🚨
Where: Toronto Pearson International Airport, Terminal 1 When: 9:00 AM, Tomorrow - August 17
The federal government is moving to trample the Charter-protected right to strike forcing binding arbitration and back-to-work orders that strip workers of free and fair collective bargaining.
This is unconstitutional government overreach. If they get away with it here, this sets a dangerous precedent.
✊🏾Join the labour movement at Toronto Pearson. Solidarity with Air Canada flight attendants. Defend the right to strike.
