MARXISM MADE EASY

Marxism is not popular as trendy ideologies are because it demands education and critical thinking.

They used to call that wisdom.

On social media, it is easy to take things at face value just because of how they appear.

Step one to understanding Marxism is that things aren't the same as what they immediately appear to be.

Everything that appears

1. Is only a moment within a greater process of change.

2. Only exists through reacting upon its precise opposite.

3. Is only part of a greater whole, where it is interconnected with everything else.

4. Will inevitably and eventually cease to exist.

Therefore, every appearance represents the determination of a contradiction. Let us apply Marxism to the notion of society itself:

1) Society is always developing within a process of change, hence history.

2) Society can only exist by attending to its material premises - nature and physical subsistence - through labor.

The content of a society must be actively produced, and does not exist by default.

When contradictions develop in the relationships to production, these relationships form into classes.

Contradictions between classes are at the heart of all society's conflicts. These conflicts, in turn, propel society's change.

3) Society must he comprehended as a concrete totality characterized by conflicts, contradictions and struggle, and cannot be taken in a one-sided or purely ideological way.

4) Every society is destined to be transformed into a new, qualitative determination of social existence.

What makes Marxism a unique form of critical thinking is that it rejects metaphysics.

It rejects explaining the essence of things in terms of other-worldly, supernatural, fantastical, or ideal constructs.

It simply analyzes the essence of things in terms of how they reproduce their existence, and how they are actively caught within a process of change.

It rejects idols of the mind in favor of reality as it actually exists.

The comprehension of reality as caught within constant change and characterized by a unity of opposites is among the oldest insights of human thinking.

That is what Marxism teaches, but in a modern and scientific way and as applied concretely to society and history.

It has nothing to do with the schizophrenic nonsense Rightist grifters claim about it.
